Here we will discuss the theory that Kim Wexler is helping Jimmy/Saul behind the scenes before and during Breaking Bad as a silent partner. Whether you agree or disagree you are welcome here to discuss.

I have been posting J+K=S and saying Kim is half of Saul. This has caused some confusion, which is my fault. I failed to account for a few simple minded folks that would take this literally. Let me clarify.

This doesn't mean the two of them will inhabit one body like some weird science fiction movie. It doesn't mean they will have a super lawyer baby and name him Saul. You won't see Kim in any cheesy commercials. Her part in this will remain a secret to almost everyone but Jimmy.

J+k=S is simply a shorthand way to name the theory without typing the whole thing out.

Same thing with Kim is half of Saul. Saul Goodman is a brand and a law practice. Saying Kim is half of Saul simply means she is a silent partner in this business.

The details of how and why this could happen will change as more info becomes available and more clues are found. There is already some evidence available I will place it here now and post any new evidence as it becomes available.

These first two photos aren't evidence of this theory, but they are examples of the way Vince Gilligan likes to sneak hidden messages, hints, clues, easter eggs, and foreshadowing into his shows.

It is obvious that is a reference to Hector in a wheelchair, but if you viewed the two shows in chronological order you would have no idea that Gilligan is foreshadowing Hector in a wheel chair.

Once again a clever reference to Heisenberg. Viewed in chronological order you would have no idea. These two shows are full of things like this. They appear in almost every single episode. Now on to the evidence.

This shot was seen in the first episode and was repeated five or six times in the first two seasons. One thing always remains the same. Jimmy's face is in the light and Kim's face is always hidden in the shadows. This could just be an example of great cinematography, but the repeated use of this scene and Kim's face consistently hidden every time makes me believe this is Vince hiding a little clue foreshadowing what is to come. I promise you this, if my theory is correct Vince will confirm that this was our very first hint.

Next piece of evidence- Kim's bad behavior

Most people that disagree with this theory claim that Kim could never break bad. She is too much of a stickler for the rules. I say this is false and these people are stuck on their first impressions of Kim. Since season two began she has shown several times that not only will she play dirty, but she gets a thrill out of it. Let's examine her list of dirty laundry. If I leave something out let me know and I will add it to the list.

1. Her first con. Jimmy initiates a con with the stock trader at the bar. Kim is reluctant at first but when she sees that it is working she orders the most expensive alcohol on the menu and the stock trader ends up paying for it.

This con got her hot and bothered and Jimmy got laid.

2. Her second con. This time she initiates the con herself on the businessman at the bar. Jimmy wasn't even there. She calls him at Davis and Main and tells him she has a live one on the hook. He shows up and helps close the deal.

Once again we see that running a con on someone makes her panties drop.

3. Hiding Jimmy's lies so she can benefit. Once Chuck figured out and accused Jimmy of doctoring the Mesa Verde documents Kim knew he did it. She had the choice of doing the right thing and losing Mesa Verde or Benefiting from Jimmy's deceit. She chose to benefit even though she would have faced no punishment had she came clean at that time.

4. fricking with Chuck. She called every handyman in town to cancel Chuck's appointment so that Jimmy could send Mike in under false pretenses. This is straight up illegal and exactly the kind of activity we can expect from the Saul Goodman law firm.

5. Doubling down on deceit. She stood right in front of the bar association and and doubled down on all of Jimmy's deceit. This takes nerves of steel as her career could have been over had something gone wrong in that setting.

As you can see when Jimmy plays dirty it doesn't push Kim away. It draws her closer. So far all of their deceit ends up being rewarded. That trend will probably continue for them right up until Walt blows everything up.

Next up- The biggest red flag so far

Ice Station Zebra Associates

When I first began explaining this theory the biggest argument against it was that there was no connection to Kim in Breaking Bad. I dug around and found one. So what is it?

Ice Station Zebra Associates is Saul Goodman's loan out. Anytime someone pays him or anytime he pays someone else the funds go into or out of Ice Station Zebra Associates. This is likely for avoiding taxes and money laundering illegal money that Jimmy earns.

How does it connect to Kim? We see Kim and Jimmy watching a movie in the episode Amarillo. The name of that movie is Ice Station Zebra. Kim explains that it's her favorite movie because it was her dad's favorite movie. WTF? Vince Gilligan could have neatly tied everything together with a nice little bow if he would have just had Jimmy say it was his favorite movie. Why didn't he? Imagine you are Vince or a writer for this show and your plan is to make Kim Saul's silent partner. You would look for anything you could to connect the dots and connect Kim to Breaking Bad. This was the only dot they could possibly connect to tie her in.

They also drive this home again by having the man that Kim scammed write the check out to Ice Station Zebra Associates. They didn't cash this and at the time this loan out didn't really exist yet.

Just think about this. Skyler White held a check with the name of Kim's favorite movie on it.

Some have said that Saul will pick that name for his loan out because he misses Kim. I just find it highly unlikely that Vince spent a half day shooting that scene so that two season later he could make the point that Jimmy misses Kim, especially when you consider that it would go over 95% of viewers heads. There are much easier ways to show Jimmy missing Kim.

One more point on the loan out. I think we will see this formed on the show and I believe this is where Kim will be involved most. Why? A loan out especially a dirty one must be constantly maintained to avoid scrutiny. If they use it to launder dirty money they will need other revenue streams pouring into it. All of this will require someone adept in business law. That just happens to be Kim's specialty. She can do this from a separate office and also maintain her legit clients and no one would know she had anything to do with the Saul Goodman Law firm.

One extra tidbit. I wasn't familiar with loan outs so I looked them up. I was puzzled because they are almost the same as an LLC, but they are usually the preferred method of people in the film and tv industry. I was asking myself why would Saul go this route. The very next episode Saul started a production company. It's funny how all this is starting to line up.

Odds and ends

Kim used Saul's line give me a dollar. This is when the light bulb came on for me. It was another one of those moments I felt like Vince was foreshadowing what was to come with a clever little hint.

A desk from Saul's breaking bad office is sitting in Kim Wexler's office right now. Confirmed by Gilligan.

Another thing I would like to say is that everyone seems to think some major event needs to happen for Jimmy to break bad and "fully turn into Saul." Saul is just slipping Jimmy under a different name. He has been here all along. We just haven't seen him with the type of clientele that brings out his true colors. The cracker barrel stuff, and schmoozing old folks is Saul all the way. Saul is just a persona he uses in front of clients. It won't take a major event to bring him out. It will just take a criminal client that can afford to pay for his services.

His brother is going to kill himself which will tilt him and Kim will break bad but she will die and her death is the final straw that turns Jimmy into Saul. Even Helen Keller could see that is what will happen, your theory is dookie.

Do you even watch the show? Mike is his client, Mike is already entrenched with Gus and we have all seen breaking bad. If you don't see where this is headed I don't know what to tell you.

Not enough info at this time, but I will throw out a couple possibilities. It's entirely possible she is with him. We saw the Royals lunch cooler. Maybe it's Kim's and Gene grabbed it on the way to work.

Maybe Kim is still in Albuquerque. They may have had enough of a firewall between Saul and Kim that she is able to hang back and tie up loose ends. She could use visiting her family as a cover to go visit Saul in Omaha.

Hard to say this far out.

Sadly I am taking all of this hook line and sinker!

Ham's threads had me watching the show last week looking for clues.

I totally took the way Kim said 'Saul Goodman...huh..." at the end of the episode as "wow that is an awesome idea this could take us somewhere".

I think it has been his threads that have made my mind go that way but now I am fully on board!

Kim is behind the scenes in BB for sure, it is just how much so and how does it all come together at this point in my mind.

Can't wait to watch!

I agree with this. I like your breakdown, too. I think the J+K=S thing is unnecessary and cheapens everything else you've posted.

I love a great bullshite theory and you make some great points. I really think this show could carry on for longer than BB and Jimmy and Kim could be a great duo.

Just a thumbs up to your theory. I find it fascinating and if it pans out, kudos. Gilligan is a genius. Both BB & BCS are epic series.
