The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore... What do we think?

He's funny himself, but the panel needs to go or be only about half as long. Or have way better people on the panels. More comedy, less seriousness.
Although I kind of think I'm the only person watching it.

I keep giving it chances but it keeps sucking.
Like you said, Wilmore isn't bad but the panel mostly sucks and the "keepin it one hundred" segment is also lame.

We didn't need another fake news show. Daily Show -> Colbert worked because both of them were good but they were different.
I wish they would use the time slot for something other than news. One show is enough. Also, having a black version of the Daily Show only perpetuates the idea that we're different. We shouldn't have a news show and then a black news show. Why make the distinction?

quote:Yeah, you need people that are actually important for it to work. Probably every tenth episode that happens.

He's a poor man's Bill Maher. His format is stale and his guest segment is painful to watch.

I want to like it, but so far I have to give it a C.

the panel also fails because the serious people you bring on feel a need to try and be funny....and fail and then the "funny" people you bring on try to show their serious side.....and fail

Yeah I've watched, they talked about black guys getting shot by the cops. They talk about that on the Daily Show too, in the time slot before the Nightly Show. The Nightly Show just gave the "black perspective" on everything, as if that exists.

I actually feel like the jokes aren't bad but he just doesn't have the delivery that Stewart and Colbert have / had. Maybe he'll get there with time, but I feel like I'd laugh a lot more if they had better delivery.

So what you're saying is they talk about the same thing as the Daily Show but you view it as the "black perspective" because black people are talking?

well in his defense sometimes wilmore straight up says he's getting the black POV....

Yes.

No. They give the black perspective because that's what the show is meant to be. It's foolish to make the distinction between news and black news because it only perpetuates the divide between races when we should be trying to bridge that gap instead of exploiting it.

I dislike it. Nonstop race discussions, usually about gentle peace-loving blacks who get mauled by bloodthirsty white people.
Posted on 5/27/15 at 11:09 pm to FT
All the show talks about is race and hates on republicans. I've tried to give it a shot many times but it's just not a good show.
But what I can't take most of all his whiney voice.

It's meh. The panel format is a bit awkward and it just falls flat for me overall. I'm a big Colbert fan though and miss him deeply.

Larry himself seems likable, but the show comes across awkward and clumsy.
I feel like the material is written by a bunch of chain-smoking old white Hollywood Jews trying to be "edgy."

not only does this show suck, but i have no confidence in trevor noah being any better as jon stewart's replacement. comedy central is replacing two of the funniest, sharpest hosts of all time with two guys who are going to do nothing but racial/ "white privelige" material. kinda pissed.
