It's been tough for sure. Hopefully it gets better. I will give it another episode to see if it gains traction.
Update - Thought the pilot was an intriguing episode and will continue to watch. As previous posters stated the cast is loaded with talent and it received rave reviews.

It's classic La Carre', the pacing, the mysteriousness. I thoroughly enjoyed the first episode as it had a very similar tone to "Tinker, Taylor, Soldier, Spy" which captured La Carre's story perfectly and is one of the better movies of the last 5 yrs. Basically if you didn't like that movie, your not going to like this show.
