Is this part of Universal's idea to reboot all of the classic movie monsters?

Is this the Mummy or the new Mission Impossible?

I was hoping for some kind of feel to the Brendan Frasier movies, I didn't get that at all. This just felt like the guy above said, Jack Reacher vs Enchantress.

I was disappointed to see Tom Cruise in this. The trailer felt like a Mission Impossible movie to me.

I believe Cruise has realized this formula and is applying it to all his movies as its been a cash cow

The trailer is 2:30 long and the mummy is in it for less than 10 seconds. Why did they have to make this an action movie? It should've been a straight horror film. It looks like a trailer for another Jack Reacher movie that just happens to have a mummy in it.

When cruise doesn't take himself so seriously and does these kinds of movies he usually produces good roles and movies. Nothing earth shattering but I've enjoyed some of his less popular action stuff.

I really hope this is somehow a sequel to those movies since those were set in the past.

The previous MUMMY remakes were great special effects-fests but lacked the creeping supernatural, personal dread and horror of the old Universal Karloff originals and the Hammer Lee/Cushing versions.
This one looks like it could have potential to eliminate much of the tongue in cheek silliness from the more recent MUMMY renditions, but will CGI most of the personal dread and horror out of the story as well, if in spectacular fashion.
I still want to see it.

Separate yourself from the original and Tom Cruise being a nutjob.

If you can do that, it looks like a fun Sunday matinee

Agree the trailer is a little to Cruise heavy but they may not want to show too much mummy this early. I'm sure we will get more in later trailers. I'm ok with it being more serious that the old series. They started jumping the shark when Yetis were kicking field goals in the last one!
