So, my problem is that I go walk around the movie aisle as Best Buy when I'm stressed or in a bad mood and I end up buying a movie. I also have some movies I don't remember ever buying and someone must've left them at my apt in college or something.

Problem is, some I just haven't gotten around to seeing.

Here is the list. What should I watch first and what should I just throw away?

American Graffiti
Clay Pigeons
Evil Dead 2
Fargo
Godfather Part II
Man of the Year
Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil
Renaissance
Willard
American Beauty
American Hustle
Chasing Amy
City of God
The Deer Hunter
The Devil's Backbone
The Fighter
Garden State
Ink
Much Ado About Nothing
Raising Arizona
Taxi Driver

Seen these and they're worth a watch. City of God is fantastic. If you can handle subtitles I'd start there

That is less than a tenth of my movies. I just never got around to seeing all of them.

Fargo and Raising Arizona.

The first 30 minutes of Raising Arizona are perfect.

Those are all solid to excellent choices. Fargo, City of God, The Deer Hunter, Raising Arizona, and Taxi Driver are all classics.

You've really never seen Godfather 2?! Watch that as soon as you possibly can. I have not seen most of the other movies, and the one's I have seen were not enjoyable movies.

Evil Dead 2

Cult Classic. Right time of the year to watch. Horror/comedy. It's one of my favorite "fun" movies.

quote:

Fargo

Just a great all around film. Interesting characters. Thrilling and interestingly strange.

quote:

Godfather Part II

Many people will consider this their favorite movie of all time. It's one of the quintessential classic movies. Both Godfather movies are must watches for anyone who considers himself a fan of movies.

quote:

Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil

Solid murder mystery movie with cool atmosphere. The southern stereotypes and accents are a little over the top.

quote:

American Beauty

Art house type of movie. Interesting and smart symbolism and statement about American culture. Some may say that it's pretentious, but I think it's a very well put together film.

quote:

Chasing Amy

I could see it not being everyone's cup of tea. Kevin Smith is written all over it. If you've seen his other movies and like his sense of humor then it's definitely worth checking out. It's a bit more sentimental than some of his other movies.

quote:

City of God

Haven't seen, but I've been meaning to get around to it. All accounts I've heard is that it's supposed to be a truly great movie and one of the top foreign films out there.

quote:

The Deer Hunter

Pretty much the same as above except it's not a foreign movie.

quote:

The Fighter

It was just ok. Worth a watch I guess. Others seemed to be more impressed with it than I was.

quote:

Garden State

I don't remember much about it except some people seemed to really love it back when it came out. Probably worth a watch. It might have been a bit sappy for my tastes.

quote:

Ink

I actually really enjoyed this movie. It's a bit artsy and a really well put together indy movie. It has a cool dark atmosphere.

quote:

Much Ado About Nothing

I don't know which version this is. It's based on the classic Shakespeare regardless. You probably already know if you like that type of thing. One of his moreso love stories. I used to enjoy watching the Kenneth Brannagh version when I was a kid. I was interested in watching the Joss Whedon version, but I forgot about it.

quote:

Raising Arizona

Another awesome Coen Bros movie on this list. Must watch for anyone. Good balance of comedy and drama and an actually good Nic Cage performance.

quote:

Taxi Driver

Probably the best Robert Deniro performance that I've seen. Great movie and definitely worth watching, but I almost think that it gets hyped up a bit too much. There could just be some parts that I didn't quite "get."

The rest of the movies I either just don't know about, or they didn't look worth watching to me.
