Wife wanted to watch a horror movie last night, so after digging around the webbernets looking for some horror movies I'd never seen/heard of; we ended up finding The Mist.

I actually thought this movie was pretty good. I was seriously yelling at the tv at some parts and sitting there thinking to myself, why the hell am I yelling like this. It wasn't that it was a "scary" movie and I found myself laughing at some parts that were a bit out there, but overall it got my heart rate up and I found myself seriously hating some of the characters and wanting them to die.

Apparently it was written/directed by dude who did Shawshank and the green mile (and as I have just learned) the walking dead. It also had 3 main actors from the walking dead in it, though one of them was not a major role at all. Based on a Stephen King "novella"

If any of you are interested in a good Horror/Thriller type movie for Halloween, I'd give it a go if you haven't seen it before.

CGI was bad, but the movie is quite entertaining.

yes, yes it was...though fitting. The wife actually said "I hope the mist clears up now"

One of the few times where a major change was better than the book imo.

Most disturbing ending to a movie I've ever seen.

God the ending completely ruins that movie for me.

SPOILER

"Oh we're out of gas? Should we maybe chill for a while and see if the sun comes out, or somebody shows up? Nah, frick it, I know we just ran out of gas 2 minutes ago and we haven't seen a monster in hours but... mass suicide!"

And then literally 2 seconds later a tank rolls up.. nobody heard the tank? Nobody thought, man.. I'd much rather try to make it out of here or see if there is a nearby car to siphon some gas out of or hotwire.

Jesus christ.

yeah, actors...my bad I always relate people to things I've seen them in, as I have a terrible time trying to recall actors by their actual names.

The Mist is great. I love it.

It certainly isn't "scary" in the "horror movie" sense, but more in the "this is what happens to humans in an apocalyptic situation" kind of way. In less than a couple of days, every person in that store was turning on each other and getting all Lord of the Flies.

I loved the ending. I understand the "why would you give up?" thing, but they drove for hours and found nothing and would rather do it themselves than inevitably die at the hands (tentacles?) of the creatures. And obviously they didn't see/hear the tanks and shite, so asking that is stupid.

Real ballsy ending, I loved it even though it was so bleak. I still can't believe a major studio allowed that ending.

So with nary a monster in sight for hours you would just off yourself as soon as you ran out of gas?

They clearly have the survival instinct.. they just fought their way out of a town full of monsters.

Granny even makes a flamethrower out of household items, yet none of them are imaginative enough to think... hmm maybe we can jump in another abandoned car we find along the way when we get low on gas (don't tell me there were no cars... they drove for hours)

Apparently, the studio allowed it only on the condition that the movie be made for peanuts.
