Thanks for the recommendation for the leftovers

Wife and I enjoyed it very much. As huge fans of lost, I loved the oddness of it and non cookie cookie theme

A few questions

What happened to Kevin in the finale? So the bullet just went through him and he's fine? What's the symbolism behind that?

Why do you think the handicapped wife came back?

Also, how good is that damn music? The theme song gets me every time. shite gives me goosebumps. Also love the where is my mind piano parts. Shout out to Mr. Robot

I liked season 1, loved season 2. To me, it's not breaking bad or game of thrones for me, but it's a very good show.

It's arguably the best drama on TV at the moment. But I will admit that it isn't for everyone. I thought this season was fantastic and really shows that the writers and creator are doing a A+ job.

It's open to interpretation. He's pretty tough. He was bleeding. John helped him best he could. I think he's going to need a period of recovery. I think his transition from defeating Patti to helping her, the first time around, gave him enough wherewithal to defeat death the second time (at least temporarily).

It was a miracle.

I liked Season 1 better, but 2 was outstanding, as well.

not enough people have watched it, though i continue to recommend it to anyone asking for a new show to binge.

Season 2 thread had quite a few faces in there, all of whom enjoyed the show very much so.

just have to understand that some people bailed after an episode or two from season 1 and haven't tried to come back yet. admittedly, i was almost at that point until the preacher matt episode. they're missing out on a quality, quality show.

The hotel episode, and the return to the hotel, are probably my favorite scenes in TV.

When he sings in the Karaoke bar

He was shot, probably died (again) but was able to get back bc of the spirit quest shite he did with magical negro. Assuming when you die in that universe, you end up at the hotel, it seems that if you don't drink the water you have a chance to get back. He picked the correct uniform and i think that gave him the easy path back via karaoke.

Obvious that Jarden, TX and Miracle (the park inside) specficially carries mystical properties. This is highlighted by the long opening scene at the beginning of season 2, and the continued examples afterwords (the bird in a box, kevin buried alive, the lake vanishing)

Lindelof finished the whole season before seeing Mr. Robot use the Pixies piano song. It's a case of a hivemind production thing IMO. That said, the music on this show (and Lost) elevates a good show to a great show IMO, coming from a musician you really see it enhance already great acting scenes that much more. The crazy music in the "underworld" hotel is just brilliant. The piano overtures are beautiful. The variations of the Leftovers theme song in different genres, amazing as well.

To me it's most certainly on that level. Very happy it got renewed for a final season even though it had abysmal ratings.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention, episode 8 from season 2 might be a top 5 episode of all time for me. The hotel John wick episode

Good god the writing, acting, music. Perfection

Some parts of the show were just too weird for me. Like the daughter running naked through a field. A guy walking down the street and a couple is banging in the background. What was the purpose of these?

Still great though

She was a teenager streaking with her friends, it happens, not too weird.

This was just after miracle was taken over by the GR cult. It was there to give a sense of anarchy.

Neither were weird parts really. If you loved the hotel of purgatory episode and understood that but think streaking and public sex are weird, you are a special kind of person

good point. lol

also, did anyone else feel the black guy from season 1 was a wasted plot line? it just didnt fit IMO. the son is ok but the whole hug thing with season 1 and him being the prophet. didnt resonate with me.

Loved the hotel episode. It reminded me of the Kevin Finnerty episode in The Sopranos.
