I was finally able to catch this one on HBO.

My wife and I really liked it. I'm really glad that I watched it ... of course, big Duvall fan.

Late to the party, I'm sure ... but, what was the verdict of the Movie/TV Board.

Also ... for awhile, we were thinking that R Downey Jr hooked up with his daughter ... but, towards the end ... did no one find it weird that it's pretty obvious that he hooked up with his niece?

the marketing for this movie was weird as shite...the early trailers made it seem like Oscar buzz worthy, emotional type and then a few weeks before they changed to a comedy style. It was odd and I think threw a lot of people off.

Most people liked it.

I thought it wasn't very good. The more I think about it, the more I think they needed to get rid of Vera Farmiga's character.

Leighton Meester is really hot. The last minute twist about her character was a little gross though.

SPOILER:

"OH no! I might have fricked my daughter!"

"Phew. I'm so relieved. I fricked my niece, instead."

They kissed not fricked. Huge difference between the two.

Hmmmm... you're correct, there's a big difference. I thought the insinuation was that they had sex, too. I WOULD watch it again to clear that up except the whole affair is dull as dishwater.

He (her uncle) had her pinned up in a phone booth or something in the bar ... in plain view of her Dad and "slow" uncle.

Yeah, that whole hooking up with the niece/daughter (I think that girl was in Gossip Girl) thing was just a weeeeeeiiiirrrrddd addition to an otherwise pretty good story.

There was also the errors in geography with the filming in Massachusetts vs. the setting in Indiana.

But again, the main story was pretty good. I like this movie.

I thought it was a pretty crappy generic movie.

I saw this on HBO go and was thinking about watching it but I couldn't help but feel that it felt super corny with the previews.

Threw me off. Looked like it would suck to me. Might give it a shot.

Bad marketing can kill a movie- Edge of Tomorrow is a good example. An even better one is Cop Out. It was a Kevin Smith movie and I liked it when I saw it. But the previews were just Tracy Morgan doing a much of different characters, made sense in the movie but looked stupid out of context.

I didn't think I would like this movie, but I finally watched it last month and I was pleasantly surprised.
It's not necessarily groundbreaking, but just a good movie.
I'll rewatch it.

i liked it a lot. my wife hated it, but she doesn't really like movies that end anything less than very happy. Wasn't a favorite by any means, but worthy of a rental, absolutely.

Duval and RDJ did a good job all in all.

on another note.... i think that 2014 will go down in a year of very, very good movies all around, but underrrated as a year. i don't think anything killed at the box office necessarily, but i enjoyed most everything i saw that year
