re: The Jeselnik OffensivePosted by TigersRuleTheEarth on 2/27/13 at 6:25 am to HumbleNinja
The bladerunner jokes were so stale and formulaic that I couldn't help but roll my eyes the entire time they were talking about him. I saw them comming a mile away and I'm no comedic genius.
"I just want to see if this story has legs"...you fricking serious, Kroll?
"I don't want to cut you off at the knees."...you're better than this, Jeselnick.

I thought last night was much better than the first episode.
Kroll and Oswalt were great IMO. And of course some of the jokes were lame, but that's the nature of "panel" I think. Also, I think they did some of the jokes to be intentionally stupid (like the "story has legs" thing), so I was okay with it.
There also seemed to be some big time inside jokes between the three of them, which is fine, but expect the audience to be confused and not laugh.
I agree that the "offensiveness" is really forced at times, but that's kinda the point, so I roll with it. I do wish Jeselnik would stop intro-ing his jokes with a headline though...that's pretty annoying.
All in all, pretty big improvement from the first show. I'll definitely keep tuning in. But I have a feeling that the show will live or die by whoever is on the panel.

Yea Kroll made the "I'm not sure this story has legs" joke and then immediately looked at the audience as if to confirm that joke was bullshite and everyone knew it.

I guess I could give him a pass if he did that. I was taking a dump and the TV was on in the next room so I didn't see their faces.

You should watch it again just to watch their reactions during panel.

Exactly. And he did it another time too with another lame joke. THAT was the joke, not what he was actually saying.

This show tries way too hard to be offensive and it is not realy funny
That's my problem with it as well. It feels like they are trying way too hard to say the most offensive thing possible constantly. That's not comedy to me, but whatever floats people's boats.

Y'all are too sensitive. I laughed my arse off last night.

I'm not sensitive at all, but the Pistorious segment was forced, cheesy, and full of germans.
The jokes were a week old.

Yeah, to me it seemed more like they were making fun of how stupid and easy the jokes were, not so much thinking the jokes themselves were hilarious. It's almost as if it was just a segment to make fun of the bandwagon pistorius jokes. So the fact that they are stale is sorta like what made the segment in the first place. I dunno Sometimes comedy is more about the delivery than the joke itself

Sure it is. Improvement is always a good thing with a show like this.

Okay, but that's what he is and what he does. So you expecting to like the show when you already find AJ annoying is stupid of you.

Actually I like AJ as a comedian. He is funny at the Roast and his standup. I just dont think his brand of comedy translates well to TV.

That dude is so awful it's painful to watch him. Tried twice now. Worst delivery I can remember on tv....or the belle of the ball.
Please take this douche off the air, CC. Please.

Is this a good time for a "you mad"?

Just watched it
I think last nights episode was a lot more even than last week. Less highs and less lows
Some of the jokes were low hanging fruit, but atleast the formula seems a bit more defined this week
Stuff like the Black Name spelling bee is thrown out there so quick it seems just random and out of place though. They might be better off doing that kind of segment after a commercial break. And the way he opens topics up in the opening monolouge needs work

he went to Tulane

Yeah, that definitely comes through. Like, you’re a college graduate. I am. I graduated from Tulane University in 2001.
Was it fun? Yeah, going to college in New Orleans was completely insane. Bars don’t close. I moved to LA right after New Orleans and it was like 1:45 and they go “last call,” and I said, “What does that mean?” And then I tried to take my beer in a to-go cup and they were like, “Whoa, what are you doing?” and I was like, “Oh, you can’t do that here either?”

Bump.
Had a strong opener with a great interview segment but he really needs to dump the panel segment
This gay guy hasnt made one good joke yet. Im questioning whether hes actually a comedian or not.
