Will this be another disaster like the Disney bracket?

Please list about 10 of your favorite shows so we can get some ideas for seeding... Let's Enjoy!!!

Can we please group the shows in their own genres and go from there, rather than being purely random?

What about shows that transcend genre, like Ice Road Cajuns?

I hate to kill this thread in the womb, but Star Trek: The Original Series is the greatest television show of all time.

The first serious "series" of science fiction that was not in vignette form (like Outer Limits and Twilight Zone) - it was an early hour long dramatic/adventure series, all in color, and launched William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy into superstardom.

The show's massive popularity in syndication (despite being stupidly cancelled by NBC, well prior to the promised 5-year run) - along with the seminal film 2001, directly paved the way for the science fiction "renaissance" of the 1970s and made possible the phenomenon known as "Star Wars".

In addition, the modern science fiction, RPG and comic book convention movement are directly traceable to the early Star Trek conventions of the 1970s.

Add to that, it spawned 4 sequel series, and ultimately 10 feature films (some folks claim up to 12 with an additional coming out, but I'm not one of those).

Once all that evidence is laid out - certainly there are other great shows - Hill Street Blues, Cheers, Frasier, Seinfeld, NYPD Blue, All in the Family, I Love Lucy, etc., but none can hold a candle to Star Trek.

It isn't even close.

Great shows in their own right, by the way.

I should have also said Sopranos and The Shield.

(But Star Trek is still #1)

That Disney one sure was awesome

Need an animation category:
Family Guy
Simpsons
South Park
Looney Toons
Tom and Jerry

Comedy:
Seinfeld
Friends
The Office
Parks and Rec
Modern Family
Big Bang Theory
How I met your Mother
That 70's Show
Cheers
Frasier

young 90's:
Full House
Family Matters
Home Improvement
Saved by the Bell
Fresh Prince
Boy meets World
Roseanne
Dawson's Creek
Bevery Hills 90210
Married with Children
The Wonder Years
Cosby Show

Classic's:
Mash
Gilligan's Island
Brady Bunch
I Love Lucy
Star Trek
Andy Griffith
Dick Van Dyke
Mary Tyler Moore
Bewitched
Happy Days
All in the Family
The Twilight Zone
Batman
I Dream of Jeannie
Leave it to Beaver
Charlie's Angels

may need two classic categories, there's many more.

Drama:
ER
X-Files
Law and Order
NCIS
CSI
Castle
Bones
NYPD Blue
Lost

Baywatch should be somewhere

top cable:
GOT
Sopranos
Breaking Bad
Entourage
The Wire
Dexter
Mad Men
Walking Dead

There's quite a few categories we could go with. Many more shows than the plethora i listed. Also depends on the general age range we are looking at.
I made a young 90's category b/c that's when i grew up, and those are the shows i watched the most.

This seems way too broad. You are going to have about 100 good suggestions. I would split by genera or time period.
