To each their own. I thought it was one of their worst sketches. I honestly kept waiting for it to just end.

Watching episode 2 now, started out with Clarkson driving the Vulcan. Incredible car.

The 800 horsepower and speed was impressive but I'm not a big fan of the body style.

The Vulcan segment was a thing of beauty, but skinner's role/character is going to get old quickly.

The show is way too scripted. The segment where they are doing the military exercise drug out WAAAAAAY too long and was never funny because of how scripted it was.

100% Agree. I don't know what it is but this show seems WAY, WAY more scripted than top gear. Which is strange because Its basically the entire crew and producer from the BBC show.

The military skit is the worst thing I've ever seen them do. It was terrible. In the past, There was always a bit of A wink, wink to the audience that the show was kind of scripted, but now their literally just reading lines it seems like....it's bad, really bad. Like Duck Dynasty level bad now.

Also, is it just me or has James, my personal favorite presenter, been extremely mariginalized in this series? He's just kind of there, while before he was a full blown key element of the show. I know Clarkson and Willman(the producer) are basically the main behind the scenes guys in the show, but it feel like it has become the Clarkson hour more so than ever before.

I wonder if before BBC would step in and keep the show more evenly distributed in the past and now Amzon is so hands off, Clarkson has essentially taken over the show and doesn't even realize it.

I guess the only way to really see how much the dynamic of the show has changed is when they do a "special" like Vietnam or North Pole. You k ow they'll do at least 1 this season...that's of course where the show at its best.

I like the way it looks personally, it's different...especially for Aston, and it's basically a GT cup car for consumer purchase. Thing is bonkers.

Agreed on Skinner. Problem is if they copy anything from old Top Gear too closely then they can probably expect some sort of suit or shite to be flung. Im honestly not sure what the answer to the Stig is, but I know it isn't Mike Skinner and the redneck American schtick.

The show is definitely more scripted, but I don't think it takes anything away. Although it's still Clarkson, Hammond, and May...it's still all new with new people behind the scenes. It'll take a season, maybe two, to smooth the bumps out and see what segments are hits and which segments are flops. I say so far it's good though. Much much much better than what BBC did with Top Gear.

Overreact much?

I didn't like the ongoing military skit either, but it's been a whole 2 episodes. We'll see how things keep going from here

Honestly, Skinner was the best part of the second episode to me. I enjoy his character. I agree with the above posts that it was way too scripted. That was the first episode they shot so hopefully they learned something and the newer ones will feel more organic. The specials are always where the trio really shined.

And the thing is, with the military segment I would've thoroughly enjoyed watching the three of them make utter asses of themselves trying to complete that course unscripted. Throw in a little bit of the script at the end (Clarkson going out Apocalypse Now style was hilarious) but keep the rest of it relatively raw.

I do enjoy Conversation Street. I don't know why that graphic they use cracks me up but it does.

I'm watching it tonight. I know this episode is in England, so I'm sure they felt way more comfortable in that episode.

I really think they should just do the show from there again.

By far best episode of Yet...not even close. It felt like an A level episode of old Top gear...it was perfect. I laughed my arse off the whole episode.

They don't need to travel the show across the world. Just do it from Britain every week because you could tell how natural they were talking to an English crowd. The show always was an English show...no need to try to capitulate to the rest of the world like the 1 st two episodes. Throw the American audience/money men a bone every once in a while like the Hammond Hellcat thing but keep it as British and like the old show as possible. They hit it out of the park in this one.

After watching all three episodes to date, I think the 'movie like' cinematography and editing this show has (that is way above top gear or any other show almost period) is downright stunning, but builds up our expectations to where everything they do must be 'epic' and it's distracting from the overall dynamic.

I think the trio really shines when they have challenges against all three, where episode three it was basically loud hampster vs 2 older Brits. Solid episode none the least.

Bumping the thread after a very disappointing Episode Four.

Man (Baw?), last week I thought they were really hitting their stride. I didn't care for this latest episode at all. I couldn't wait for it to end.

Environmental segment was one of the funniest things I've seen in a long time. I was crying at the end I was laughing so hard.
