After you watch Dark Knight Rises does it bug you that Batman took eight years off after what happened in The Dark Knight? When you watch TDKR it seems like that Rachel's death was what drove him to retirement.I mean I am fine with it making Bruce Wayne depressed and making him never wanting to leave the house.I just don't know if I buy that it was enough to make him hang up the cape. The whole zero crime in Gotham was stupid. So a DA dies and it makes Gotham come together.Every decent size city is gonna have crime.I wish either they focused more on Batman killing Harvey Dent on TDKR or change up the ending of TDK and have Batman kill Joker.

He was Batman for pretty much less than a year.

That makes Bruce Wayne seem like a pussy.

He is hungover a girl that has been dead for eight years and the first girl he sleeps with in years he falls for.

I once read a batman novel (can't remember the name for it was a long Time ago) but Batman had pretty much disappeared and Gotham city got cut off from the mainland and pretty much the city went to shite. Gangs took over and Nightwing was trying to straighten things up.

At one part Nightwing was in serious danger and they describe a batman like figure saving him.

I know kinda got off track. But my point was that I guess I'm okay with his break since I had read about one in a novel one time haha

It is not the issue of Batman taking a break but why he did.

Does anybody know if there are plans to make a series of nightwing movies with JGL? The ending of TDKR leads you to believe maybe there will be.

Well, he retired because the Gotham Police Force was also on a full manhunt for him and would have almost certainly caught him if he kept it up. I really wish TDKR would have scene like this where Batman almost gets killed by the police instead of merely toying with them: LINK

On a sidenote, why didn't they just make that blond cop in TDKR Bullock? That's the position he's in in the series, will say "frick everything" for a shot at getting Batman, wants to one up Gordon, but in the end will stand up for what he believes is morally right. That pretty much sounds exactly like him, but instead they went with some original character no one gave a damn about in the end (even the fans). It would have been extra awesome to have him played by James Gandolfini.

They will reboot it with a new Bruce Wayne/Batman for Justice League.

I would have loved to see Batman having to deal with the police and having to deal with a worthy enemy.

No it is not. The movie hints that Bruce Wayne was active as a philanthropist for several years after the events of The Dark Knight. He and Miranda Tate were both working on the fusion reactor before Dr. Pavel's research into weaponizing the reactor caused him to put the project on indefinite hold. It was that particular event that put Bruce Wayne into hiding.

I kind of figured part of why he wasn't around as Batman was because of what happened in the Dark Knight. But the idea was that the city no longer needed Batman. Even if it had petty crime, there was no need for Batman any longer. Up until the Dark Knight Rises, and the events in that movie. Which sort of forced him out of retirement.

Unlike previous incarnations of Batman, the Christopher Nolan version of the Caped Crusader seemed to concentrate much of his time and effort on organized crime. Petty crime is going to happen no matter how hard you work to stop it, but organized crime is a disease that can be treated and cured. You eliminate organized crime from a city as bad as Gotham and you will be going a long way in reducing that city's crime rate by a substantial percentage.

Maroni and the Chechen, the two most powerful mob bosses in the city, were both dead by the end of the events in The Dark Knight. The Joker had been apprehended by the police. There was very little for Batman to do but run and hide by that point.

Darkwing is a duck, so I hope they don't have JGL playing him. A Nightwing movie on the other hand, might be a good thing...

I specifically remember Bruce Wayne still around working on some energy product and when he found out it could be turned into a bomb, he became a recluse
