Hostages were released in Jan '81, so that's off by a few months. I guess asking them to be that precise is asking a lot
ETA: On a similar note, Reagan is president, and the hostages are still in Iran, so that puts the first episode squarely in Jan of 81. Yet it's warm weather. Best to just enjoy the story and not look too closely.
