So you are saying this is worse than 4?

it's a better put together movie, but it's less entertaining. I was legit bored during large parts of T5.

Meh. Terminator 3 was so bad, I ended my relationship with the franchise.

The franchise was definitely mishandled since it left JC's hands. However I didn't think T3 was that bad. The premise was there. The execution was not. And the casting choices it what really killed it. Nick Stahl? Claire Danes? Kristanna Loken? Is that really the best they could get?

take the terminator name off that movie and it's pretty forgettable. I will say though that they did a really good job making the T-X feel like she was one step ahead of the heros at every turn. It was a natural advancement from the t-800 and the t-1000. Whereas with T2 it was a fairly even matchup and the chess game between the t-800 and t-1000 was fun, they took the next step in t3 and the feeling was palpable that Arnie was no match for her at all and they were living on borrowed time.

T5 introduced John as a terminator even more advanced than the T-X and yet none of that tension exists. He's almost holding back. It's really frustrating and detracts from the movie. Also the fact that we aren't introduced to the main antagonist until halfway through the thing makes it impossible for them to really build anything with him. he just kind of shows up, doesn't kill anyone, and then lets arnie kill him.

Totally agree. The first 2 movies were smart enough to understand the limitations of time travel and kept more of the focus on the characters. T3 tried to explain away some of the canonical inconsistencies. But it was kept to a minimum. So at least it seemed the people behind the movie were trying to make a sincere effort.

Haven't seen Genesys yet. I'm going see it tomorrow. So I'll be able to give my review then.

I'll grant you that - it was a credibly improved robot and yet it made sense how the good guys countered her. And that is the best thing about the film, by far.

The rest was complete crap - very wooden acting (and both Stahl and Danes did better in other roles), poorly executed overall. Just in the key of Terminator. I never watched 4. Not going to watch Genisys. Done with Terminator.

He can't be in everything. And I doubt casting could have helped this movie, much.

I didn't see the preview where John is a Terminator. So that part was so fricking cool.

Also James Cameron like Terminator Genisys and to him, that's the THIRD movie. Discard Rise of the Machine and Salvation.

I'm pissed that we will never see an army of T-800s in Arnold flesh battling in the future.

It was supposed to be the first movie of a trilogy. The company that owned the rights went bankrupt and had to sell the franchise. So, it was kind of a waste of time. It was never supposed to work as a stand alone movie.

the one thing they did right was cast Bale as John.

They wanted Bale to play the role of the terminator-human hybrid played by Sam Worthington, but Bale insisted they rewrite the script to give Connor a bigger role that he could assume

I just saw it this week. I liked it a lot. I have to agree showing john as a terminator in the preview was just idiotic. I still dont know why people put so much into a rotten tomatoes review. I never pay attention to that crap. If i think a movie looks good, i just go see it, Plain and simple. This movie is way better than a 26% rating.

Dat emilia clarke!

I liked it. Arnold saved the movie. Wish there had been more J.K. Simmons. Jai Courtney sucks, wish they had gotten someone with a personality.

My questions:
Who sent the Terminator that killed Sarah's family in 1973? Who sent the Terminator to protect her?

Who sent the T-1000 to 1984? The same faction that tried to kill Sarah 11 years earlier?

Who sent John Conner to 2017 (or earlier) so he could start working for Dyson and developing time travel and Genisys?

Is Skynet the answer to most of these questions?

My Theoretical answer:

1. Jane Connor. Hollywood might be P.C enough to say, that it was a girl who's the leader of the human resistance in the future now.

Everyone knows about John Connor, but John have always been conceived within the first 48 hours. 48 hours passed and they did not do anything but kissed. Everything change.

This is also why they killed John Connor but a J.C will always lead the human resistence.

2. Who sent the T-1000? Skynet Genisys. Skynet also insert itself into John Connor timeline and try to use John Connor to defeat the human resistance of his timeline.

3. As for who sent John connor? Skynet of the final battle that had infected John. They probably rebuild that machine and threw John back in time.

This movie is a whole new cycle. In the first movie, the theme was that Skynet ensured it defeat by sending a terminator back in time. That John and Skynet fate is always intertwine with one another.

Now.

There is a new counter for the new Skynet. Skynet will always win initially but a connor will always ultimately defeat him.
