My Want List for this show:
One episode where her cat gets superpowers.
Jimmy Olsen turning into a giant turtle man.
One of those time bubbles from Flash showing up with a few members of the Legion of Super-Heroes.

I dont really see anyway this show can connect to the CW shows unless theres some multiverse shennanigans from The Flash. It's stated in the pilot that Superman has been active for around for over 12 years at that point.

I watched it.....was ok....will give it a shot. My biggest criticism? Too many references to "him", "the big guy", "my cousin", and/or "my friend in blue"

Watched it. Very good. I think that Flash has spoiled us.
It got a little loose towards the end.
They really hit you over the head with the "we are all about women" thing.

Liked it, can't wait for the fall. Arrow took a few episodes for the writing to tighten up, same thing with Flash...this likely won't be different.
The tone of the show is good though...

I'm gonna check out the pilot soon but, I'll be honest, I doubt this one winds up on my watch list. It looks really generic and I was never that interested in Supergirl anyway.
I have to be fairly selective with how many series I juggle and I'd rather keep a spot open for Preacher when it comes out.

This probably winds up on the binge watch list once it makes it to Netflix.

I finally got around to watching it. It wasn't bad. I'll definitely give the show a shot. The hints of feminism were there, but it wasn't over the top to the point that it annoyed the hell out of me. I though it was kind of goofy that she was able to fight using her powers so fast (like doing flying kicks and punches), when she hadn't even been flying for very long. But I chalked that up to being a comic show.
I wasn't too pleased with their portrayal of Jimmy...err I mean James. The fact that he was black didn't bother me as much as the fact that they changed his whole personality from being kind of awkward and goofy in the comics, to being a cool/suave character that has his crap all together. Granted, he's been a confidant of Superman's for what, over ten or twelve years now, So I can deal with it if they are saying he has vastly matured during that time. I also have a feeling he will become her love interest, which I hope they don't do since it is so predictable.
I thought it was kind of neat that they made Dean Cain and Helen Slater her adoptive parents. It was a nice nod to past shows.
I thought that the special effects were great. But it supposedly cost CBS $14 mil for the pilot alone. I don't see how they can keep that up (if it is even true). Here is an article that talks about it some: LINK

In the comics, Supergirl has a massive crush on Jimmy Olsen.

I know in the animated cartoons they had a thing. But I don't recall them ever being an item in the comics. With that said though, I was never all that in to Supergirl comics, so I could be wrong on that.

Not just the cartoon.
In Smallville, seeing Jimmy activated her heat vision.

From the mid 1960's through Crisis on Infinite Earths in the late 80's, Jimmy Olsen was a cool/suave character who had his crap all together. Besides the fun and goofy Jimmy of the 50's and early 60's, this was the best run of the character in the comics.

In the recent comics. The classic Supergirl had an assortment of strange and awesome guys who were after her (Merboys and superheroes from the future... awesome stuff). Jimmy and Supergirl hooking up just seems incestuous.

I watched it and I enjoyed it and it seems like it has a lot of potential. I mean the pilot wasn't earth shattering but it was still cool and interesting to watch. The special effects are pretty damn good and I'm looking forward to getting into other superfpowers in that regard. The writing and dialogue could use some tightening up but it's pretty clear this show has a very high ceiling and it has nowhere to go but up.
If they keep making these references to Superman and this show takes off, I assume he'll be making a full fledged appearance soon right? Either that or in the Flash sometime in season 2 or 3. Also, if there's a crossover with arrow and/or flash, how would woud that work with different networks?
By the way, I'm pretty sure I have a crush on Melissa Benoist. Brb, going to fap to her fappening pics.

So this show is ripping off Marvel with their own government alien watchdog agency and a main character with the last name Danvers. Danvers is Captain Marvel's last name, and she's gonna start showing up in Marvel movies in the next few years. It's not like Danvers is a common name, so I don't believe it's a coincidence. While the FX are ok, It's not great, and Benoist really throws punches like a willowy little girl. Why did the bad guy run from the wanna be SHIELD guys' helicopter? Weren't human casualties a goal of his mission? WTF? I don't like Arrow (takes itself to seriously), Flash is pretty good, and I don't think I'll go out of my way to keep up with this show. Everything DC does these days REEKS of desperation.

I took it as a carbon copy of project Cadmus which is a DC property and it will likely transmogrify into just that and Kara will break away from that.

Supergirl's civilian secret identity in the comics is actually Linda Danvers and has been for a very long time.
This is close to common knowledge for a comic book reader.

It's tv, this isn't the avengers or man of steel you're watching here. And it's still pretty damn good considering what we saw on the flash. We've come a long way since Smallville.
CBS spent a lot of money on that pilot.

Yeah sure, she should be this super badass fighting machine in her first few days of being a superhero in the pilot.
Goddamn Some of you motherfrickers are getting spoiled by flash and the marvel movies and it's bullshite to have unreasonable expectations for a pilot.

Your post reeks of desperation. Do a little research before you post.

You do realize Supergirl's human last name has been Danvers since 1959, right?
And the Department of Extranormal Operations has been in DC comics since the late 90s.

Ah, I see folks have already put the boots in to Shiftyplus. I shall refrain then.
