Why is Aquaman flying?

Full intro: LINK

Ahh, Saturday mornings in the 70s/80s. You could wake up at 6:00 am and catch a ton of groovy cartoons, play a ball game with some kids in a field somewhere, and spend the rest of the day on your bike - at times, miles from home. You could buy candy from the store for $.01 & $.02 each. Parents never worried where you were and there was no phone going off every 5 minutes.

Wonder Twins sucked.

Oh and Namor could fly so I think they just shifted that ability to Aquaman.

When we moved back to our hometown in 1978, we temporarily lived at my grandma's house while our home was being built. On Friday nights my brother and I would go the couch watch Kolchak reruns and plan our Saturday morning. If one of us woke up before the other, "wake me up."

Super Friends
Laff-A-Lympics
The Bugs Bunny/Road Runner Show
Batman/Tarzan
The Pink Panther
Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids
Godzilla
Captain Caveman
Dynomutt, Dog Wonder
Thundarr the Barbarian
Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends
Globetrotters

Sweet & Sour Charms suckers, find coke bottles and get deposits then buy a Holsum honey bun and a drink. Walk to the baseball park and wait for Little League practice.

In early fall, one of the networks would run a Friday night preview of their new cartoons for the season.

We got excited as hell about that. Had to map out a plan in the TV listings in the paper on what to watch at which time slot. Then get up early and stare at the test pattern until broadcasting started at 7.

The sad thing is that they would only make a handful of new episodes for a season, so it was rerun city within two months.

I never watched HR. I don't think it was on tv on Saturday. That was a late 60s show. I think in New Orleans is was repeated on Sunday mornings while I was at church.

We did too! Used to look through the TV guide to see what was up the week before. Oh, loved the old Superman and Batman shows in the afternoons on WTBS (for you younger guys - pretty much the only cable channel we had in Alabama). That was awesome TV too - Sanford and Son reruns (best show ever) and Braves games - they were so bad but we rooted for them anyway.

Found this explanation on an Aquaman site:

Poseidon granted Aquaman the power of flight, but he doesn’t use it very often. He’s more skilled underwater where he can swim faster than Superman can fly. On land, he’s a bit slow, but under the sea he can swim up to 7,000 miles per hour.

I have the Filmation Superman, Superboy, Aquaman and Justice League shows on DVD. My kids loved them along with Johnny Quest
