There's usually been a difference between Harley around Joker and Harley away from Joker.

Makes sense. Now that I think of it, she gets empowered in the games after (SPOILER) the Joker is removed from the plot. And also I seem to remember her getting her shite together in the show a couple times when she left him temporarily. I hope they show both sides of that the movie.

I don't really care about the accent, though I'm slightly annoyed by the T&A. She's more than someone for hardlegs to jerk off to. I wanted her to have, while not the full jester outfit, but a more reasonable, less sexual costume.

That's early Harley. The character has moved well beyond that in the past decade. She's more like a fun agent of chaos nowadays, and rarely seen with Joker, as that relationship wasn't healthy at all. I'm ok with it if it's just origin story, but she's grown so far past being merely Joker's crazy girlfriend who he ignores.

I think that's largely the fault of the Arkham series and Injustice. They turned her into clown fetish porn. But at least there was the clown theme and character continuity. This seems more like slutty manic pixie dream girl turned up to eleven.

You need to watch the animated movie Batman: Assault on Arkham. It is basically a Suicide Squad movie, and you get to see the difference between Harley with and without the Joker. It is an excellent movie.
