The first time I saw a trailer it came off as a black comedy Cohen's type movie, the latest trailer comes off as a suspense triller. It seems they don't know how to market exactly what it is.

This movie sucked arse.

Oscar issac is the only redeeming quality of the film and he's in it for 5 minutes

It's like burn after reading, except without any humor, subtlety, or self awareness.

It is neither. The previews are a total farce.

Stop casting Matt Damon in movies. Sick of seeing him in like 10 films a year.

I loved the tone and the setting. The music, set design, title sequence - everything was spot on for the era. Sadly, that's where they lost me, though. I was hoping for Pleasantville 2.0, with all the fricked-uppityness of early Cohen Bros. black comedy, but unfortunately Clooney beats the audience over the head with his agenda/narrative.

Plus the trailer spoils a MAJOR plot point.

Its propaganda not film. And the Coens were right to dump this turd. Clooney took a bad script and made it worse by trying to shove his liberal bullshite down peoples throats.

It's based on a true story

The Real-Life Racial Battle That Inspired George Clooney's 'Suburbicon'

It doesn't say that the race riot parts of the movie were based on something that really happened in Levittown PA in 1957? Well damn, I must be really stupid then. Oh wait....

quote:

The Myers family, who were African-American, moved into a cookie-cutter suburb populated entirely by white people in the summer of 1957. It’s the true story that inspired Clooney’s Suburbicon, a drama starring Matt Damon and Julianne Moore that debuts Sept. 2 at the Venice Film Festival.

quote:

Few people know the real-life story behind the upcoming George Clooney-helmed film Suburbicon better than Lynda Myers. After all, it was her parents, William (played by Leith M. Burke in the film) and Daisy (Karimah Westbrook), who moved into the home at 43 Deepgreen Lane in Levittown, Pennsylvania, in August 1957 — setting off a violent racial conflict that lasted months.

quote:

The Myers had no dreams of becoming leaders in the civil-rights movement — and no idea that Daisy would one day be called the Rosa Parks of the North. And yet that’s what happened when locals began to harass them. Within days of their moving in, an organized campaign began to force them out. Dozens of locals gathered outside the house all day and night, blaring music and banging loudly. Once, a rock was thrown through their window; at another time, an 8-foot cross was set on fire.

Nope, it sure doesn't, I guess you're right. I'm so sorry, I'll try not to frick up so bad ever again, please forgive me.

That side of the story being true doesn't make anything you responded to any different. No one was disputing something like that happening.

I just saw it using moviepass and I thought it was really good. It helps not paying full price admission but had I paid full price I think I would’ve enjoyed it nonetheless. A lot better than the last Cohen Bros I saw (Hail Caesar).

Saw it and hated it.

It was predictable. Too much Clooney influence, not enough Cohen Bros.

It's amazing how impressive Oscar Issac was in this compare to the shite he was surrounded with. If the entire movie was like his scenes it might've been a good movie

Not paying full box office via MoviePass definitely helps remove a certain level of scrutiny that one might normally bring down onto a film. I'd have been mad as hell if I paid $14 for his one, but since its "free" then you're able to critique it on its own merits (or lack thereof, in this case).
