This is going to sound really nerdy, but hear me out. Winter and summer (on earth) are caused by the earth's axis aligning with the sun. Some people have suggested that the variable length summers and winters in Game of Thrones are caused by a planet with a 'wobbly' axis. A long winter would be caused by a particularly strong 'wobble' in the planet's axis, which would cause the planet to align with the sun for an extended period of time. If you take that to a further extreme though, if the planet wobbled enough, the axis could shift from being slightly 'up' to being slightly 'down', and in this case, the sun would rise in the west, as the planet would have essentially flipped upside down. So maybe this winter of GoT (and all the white walker frickery along with it) is actually the result of the planet itself inverting. And Dany will in fact have children once that comes to pass.
