Sony sure is desperate to have their own shared universe thing going on.

Is this another leak from the Sony hack?

I think we're going to see a few weeks of "Sony planning" threads while all of their discarded ideas filter out.

Well, they did sort of show their hand at the next 15 Jump Streets at the end of 22, so they kind of had to go in a different direction.

Yeah. I keep trying to figure out why this would be a bad idea. Everything that you think of says "Wow this would suck." But still, I'd be intrigued.

Weirdest Idea ever that I would watch.

However:

Jump Street: R rated adult comedy
MIB: PG-13 family comedy

How would that work?

This may be the single dumbest idea for a movie that might actually work. It's so ludicrous, it's brilliant.

Ice Cube and Will Smith collaborate for the theme song "Straight Out of West Philadelphia"

Hire Woody Harrelson as the MIB Chief and let him challenge Cube to a game of one on one. Woody shoots threes and hits layups because he's too scared to dunk. Cube messes around and gets a triple double.

You're welcome Sony.

The 22 jump street side would be neutered. Will Smith would call the shots and want it PG13

Hopefully Hill has some foresight to say frick off in that case

Well first they would run a heavy AstroTurf campaign on the major internet sites where they push the PG-13 now is like R 20 years ago garbage. Then they would screen the film for buttlick critics who love to see their names on previews like Peter Travers to say how great it is.

After the movie makes less than they expect due to their own incompetent reading of the public they will blame the actors and pretend it was their fault and that people are tired of them.

So actually... It won't work.

I can even tell you what the ending will be. Tatum and Hill high five after killing a space monster, Will Smith hits them with the flashy thing that erases memories, and Ice Cube yells at them in the next scene for being out of contact while they sit there befuddled.

I bet that is exactly what happens. Well done.

As long as either at the beginning or end of the movie, Ice Cube says "Looks like you b!&ches are going to the moon!"

Now, what would be awesome would be to turn Jump Street into a short series. Basically, every year, they would have a short season (like 5 or 6 episodes) for one of those dumb spinoffs. It would be the greatest TV series ever and they would never run out of material.
