Hugh Jackman just tweeted this

quote:

One of the first things Logan (Hugh Jackman) says is "frick." Seeing as how the MPAA only allows two before they slap an R rating on movies -- stupid as that may seem -- I think this solidifies the fact that Wolverine 3 will be an R-rated affair.

The fights in this movie are going to be grounded, realistic, and full of consequences. As Mangold lays out in the liner notes of the script, "People will get hurt or killed when shite falls on them. ... Should anyone in our story have the misfortune to fall off a roof or out a window, they won't bounce. They will die." So the physicality of most comic-book blockbusters is on hold for Wolverine 3, which also negates a lot of what happened in, say, X-Men: Origins -- Wolverine, where Logan was indestructible.

Wolverine's older. And an alcoholic. He drinks because his healing powers are fading, so he's in a constant state of pain. This confirms, to a certain extent, that Wolverine 3 will attempt some version of the Old Man Logan storyline, though one that likely differs from the traditional comic-book story.

He also might not survive, as Mangold writes, "So by all means, go ahead and worry about him."

ETA:
This guy was also just in Apocalypse. I guess he doesn't age either??
quote:

Following our first official look at Stephen Merchant as Caliban in James Mangold's Logan earlier today, the actor has posted another somewhat unsettling glimpse of himself in full makeup (though obscured by a mask) as the Morlock character.

Looks good.

Guess I'll be getting some dirty looks for bringing the kids to a R rated superhero movie

He's dead, Jackman wants out and I bet we get Girl Wolverine for the new X-men movies.

Fun Fact.

Jackman was at Blue Bayou back in June. No entourage or people with him other than a couple of kids. I was a few feet from him and I thought he was a soccer player or something like that. He was in old man logan mode with grey and scruffy looking hair and beard.

His powers can fade? I guess that means they'll kill him.

As they should. Jackman deserves an ending to his Wolverine.

I hope they do go the X-23 route after this. And it makes sense as female superheroes are about to be all the rage. Let Wolverine rest for 4 or 5 years before you recast.

it wont be a direct Old Man Logan adaptation just like Civil War wasn't either. itll be spiritually the same with a tweaked story.

I could live with a "spiritual" version, but it isn't even in the same universe from I can see. I loved Iron Man and Civil War, thought they did a great job with them.

As a matter of fact, a big part of the story is that he still has his powers.

I understand due to property rights and such that a lot will have to be tweaked, but Wolverine being a drunk who is losing his powers just seems weak to me.

i don't mind seeing a worn down logan, but don't go all no-healing-factor.

and i wish fox could work something with disney to get hawkeye and hulk in this, but no way that will happen ever.

He's not de-mutating. He's very old. When anyone gets to an advanced age, their bodies don't function near as well as they did from birth to their 50's( ). Cyclops eye blast will be weaker when he's 80, Nightcrawler won't be able to teleport as often, Beast won't be as agile, etc..

He won't have zero healing factor. It'll just be weakened.

He's not just any person though. The movies have built him up to be basically immortal. He's already over 100 years old. There was a scene of him fighting in the Civil War in the first Wolverine movie.

Jackman has been awesome. He deserves an awesome ending. Hopefully on a rooftop, around sunset, after a sacrifice, covered in adamantium.

His healing factors slows the aging process. It doesn't stop it.
