So, Justified is Average Television *Spoilers*

I'm two seasons through with Justified. It's been entertaining. I think it's a well written show for FX. I'd put it a crack below the shield and maybe a notch below Nip Tuck (Seasons 1-2, later seasons sucked hard).
Here is my issue with the show/plot:
1. Raylon Givens has no personality. There's no depth to his character. "My family sucks and I hate Kentucky." Pretty much summed his character up with that.
2. I couldn't tell you the name of any other non-hillbilly character in the show. Basically, the entire Marshall/Courthouse side of things. What is the point of their characters.
3. This isn't edge of your seat television. Boyd Crowder is the only interesting hillbilly on this show and that's only because his character they managed to point 5 different directions.
4. The dialogue between Raylon and Boyd is excellent. They probably have the best chemistry on TV. Worst character in the show has to be Dicky. His mother was a close second. I'm sorry, I wasn't sold on those four (4) dumbos running anything beyond a backwoods pea patch. Cooder or whatever his name was the most authentic out the bunch.
5. Boyd's Father shouldn't have been killed off so fast. I didn't like the Ex-Husband plot line (which I'm not sure may still be developing through season 3). This Miami connect is pretty shallow. Like, whoever this cat is ain't in a cartel.
It's a good show but it's not up there with Breaking Bad, Walking Dead, GOT, (even) Dexter, Boardwalk Empire, etc.

You should probably stop watching then. She was great.

stopped reading right there.

Stop reading all you want but the show does nothing to invest you in its characters. Call it Law and Order with a running plot.

justified is about 24x better than walking fricking dead
season 2 of justified is better than any season of those shows except breaking bad

you were not invested in any of the characters or their conflicts in season 2? really? REEAAALLY?

Are we even watching the same show. My god, man. Besides seeing Rebecca Creskoff, it was good. Not even great.

Not really. You could see them pulling that coal deal a mile away. Besides, Boyd and his general craziness...it was pretty methodical.
Corrupt sheriff, bad locals in cahoots with Sheriff, big mama whose only bad thing was poisoning somebodies glass. I'm sorry, my opinion was it's not some season that needs to be put in the Hall of TV Fame.

and you somehow say that walking dead, which is completely redundant with horrible acting and shitty dialogue, is better?
boyd's reclamation, the conflict with the crime family, how that intertwined with boyd/raylen's past, etc. it was really developed and fleshed out. there was a lot of tension and the resolution was unclear until the end. add in the orphan girl, and it raised the stakes and conflict even further
season 2 of justified is so much more layered, complex, and well done than walking fricking dead

That's what is setting you off? I concede Boyd's character and development were interesting. His dialogue with Raylon is some of the best.
Besides that aspect of the show...the random "Who dunn it" side arcs are pretty much filler. Herschel bank robbery...pretty random.
And by the way, TWD is pretty interesting show. There's a hook. Justified, it doesn't keep you amped like some of the other shows listed above.
Side note: Nip/Tuck I haven't seen in 10 years since it premiered but those first two seasons were pretty good.

if you're going to say one thing about raylen, it's that he's a frickup. if you're going to say anything else, it's that he is personality

what? hell there is the obvious dichotomy between being an amazing "marshall" while being a complete disaster everywhere else. he has a shifting morality, more interacting with different people than with different scenarios. he has a lot of internal give and take with morality

to give counters to raylen, namely in terms of stability (but that changes over time). they're a reminder of how much of a frickup raylen is, after you get too enamored with his personality

it sounds like you just have an issue with rural people

nip tuck was soap opera trash
i mean it was enjoyable on a purely surface/kardashian level, and i enjoyed it, but it wasn't good

Can we get a spoilers tag, please?!?

Dude, there's no character development beyond selfishness. Say what you will, the guy is a frick up with the Marshall service and his home life. Albeit, I'm only through Season 2, his shift of morality has been pretty standard to this point. He's helped others in need but usually out of selfish motivations. He did care about that orphan but I believe he saw that as a reflection of self more than anything. Otherwise, he plays by the book- pretty straight up. Not like he is crooked

Well in typical movie board fashion you'll have to watch every episode until it ends so you can tell everyone else how much you hate it.
For what it's worth, i disagree with you and think it's a good show, but i can see how it gets a review like this.

what about the entire last season spent at the farm, in a storyline that should have taken 2-3 eps tops?
