Some more slapstick suggestions that I thought would be stupid and dismissed months before they were released due to eye-rolling trailers would be: Why Him?, Office Christmas Party, Daddy's Home. These all turned out to be pretty funny IMO, not approaching great status, but just funny.

And movies that I didn't realize would be as funny as they were: Swiss Army Man, The Man from UNCLE, Kingsman, The Nice Guys. These seemed like movies that were going to be more dramatic with comedic elements but they turned out to be straight-up comedies with dramatic elements.

I've been catching up with comedies I've missed the past couple of years; anyone want to add some suggestions?

I watched Central Intelligence the other day and laughed my arse off. I wasn't expecting much but was pleasantly surprised.

Mike and Dave need wedding dates was surprisingly funny to me. Didn't go in expecting much simply because the premise seemed retarded but thinking about it now they had a really great cast. Also, zac Efron is an amazing comedic actor. Dude could easily blow up and be the next Clooney or pitt. Great looks with acting chops to boot. I'd love to see him tale on a more serious role

It's a few years old now but 2 Guns. It's hilarious. That's one of the only movies I can think of in recent years that made me laugh out loud.

First movie I thought of was Bad Words (guessing that's what you meant?). Didn't make a peep at the box office but it's a pretty funny Bateman flick.

Popstar--I knew going in I was going to hate that movie but I found myself laughing way too much.

I dont understand why people dont like this. i feel like Tatum gets a lot of love for his roles in comedies but Efron is miles more talented in the genre.

2014 "God's Pocket" Philip Seymour Hoffman, John Turturro, etc. Pretty messed up stuff. Dark comedy but pretty good. Not too recent but I thought the "King's Speech" was fricken' hilarious and rare to find any movie bringing 12 Academy Award nominations (won Best Picture) regardless of genre. As far as the "bro" movies, Bad Grampa, Bad Mom.., ...Hangover part XVII, etc. I can't take any of that crap anymore... although I'll still watch anything Will Ferrell does.

The Nice Guys and Mike and Dave were the two best comedies last year.

You need to start paying attention to directors
