Saw Sicario last night, and hot damn was it good. It had just enough action to keep you interested, but they just kept building the pressure.

If you like a good suspense flick, definitely check this one out.

I do have questions for anyone who watched it.

* I thought Kate was a bit weak. She was hired for that job due to her expertise in executing raids, but she whined a lot and focused on "cases" and bitched about the action. i felt that was a bit out of the character.
* Benito's character. I liked how they saved his motivation until the end, but I wish they had built it up.
* I thought the ending dragged a bit, I feel as they could have wrapped it up a bit faster.

what did everyone else think?

I liked the movie overall. Really loved the first 2/3 of the movie, the last 1/3 was okay. I didn't see it coming, which is good I guess. I thought it was kinda muddled the way she just decided to go down the wrong tunnel and see him there at the cop car. Idk the few complaints I had with the movie were minor. Would recommend.

Thought it was great. There's a lot of discussion on it here.

Her character was a "by the books" type of agent. She wasn't weak just not really wanting to adapt to the more questionable tactics of the other guys.

There were some hints as to Del Toro's character. They always kind of dodging the question of who he worked for, he told that one guy not to be in the room when he grabbed the water bottle, and the Mexicans all called him Medellin. Another thing I noticed, I started watching Narcos after I saw Sicario and they said sicario was a Colombian term for assassin. There was a clue in the name of the movie.

Wasn't Kate just a pawn for the CIA? I remember Brolin explaining that the United States didn't have jurisdiction in Mexico unless she accompanied them. So maybe she got recruited for the mission due to her history of "going by the books" and following chain of command, and never questioning it.

Just got out. It was pretty good.

Great example of a director completely saving a script. Would've been dogshit with a lesser director. It was a well-made movie. Well-shot, well acted, great sound design. Overlong and fairly uninteresting story, though. Glad it excelled in its other areas

she was recruited partially because she was a "by the books" person who by accompanying their team, made it "legal"

Also, notice when they ask her specific questions about people at the beginning and she didn't know. Her ignorance was also valuable.

She was a pawn, nothing more
