“I think it started after 'Lawless.' When the movies started getting shite. I’m telling you. When the movies started getting shite and they knew that I felt it too, it was the shared secret that we all had… not just because I’m in it…I’m in the same boat as you, I’m a viewer in this and this is hard for me to watch too. In fact, I’m gonna go take a nap ‘cause I hate myself, not ‘cause I’m tired, but because I’m dying right now.
quote:
“That pizza went around the room. It was the first time I had really looked at people. I remember saying, 'Hey man, you want pizza?' and they looked at me like, ‘Holy s--t. Yeah I want pizza.’ And they took the pizza and everybody started sharing pizza around the room and we were all sitting there eating pizza that these girls had ordered, we don’t know nothing about the girls who ordered it, everyone was enjoying a meal together.
quote:
the Even Stevens Movie was interesting, it’s all of our childhood. It’s mine and it’s yours. It wasn’t just me smiling like that. If you look at the freeze frames, everyone is smiling like wow, I remember Beans. I remember that stupid-arse song. We were all looking at our yearbook together and we’re all in the yearbook. It felt like family, we were sitting there like a high school class.
quote:
But this is a genuine fear of mine. I think people hate me. That’s just what goes on in my head. And all I want to do is be liked.

I always enjoy a Shia movie, from Holes to Eagle Eye to my personal favorite Fury. Kid has talent, he can bring it.

I used to really dislike Shia LaBeouf, but I really think I jumped the gun on him. He's got a really good sense of humor about himself, he treats his fans right (even if he'll get into occasional brawls with people at bars), and he really is entirely genuine. I don't know how I'd be if I got fame at his age, but he really seems to have a good heart at his core, and he likes having fun with it a bit and second guesses on how things would have gone if things had been different. In another words, he's entirely human. It really was great at work to have that playing in the background between sales calls and keep up with how things were going. Definitely a brilliant idea for him to do.
And I've been saying this since the Shia Labeouf video from last year, but give the guy a network or HBO Christmas Special. I think he'd kill it. Just old fashioned Bing Crosby/Frank Sinatra style with a bunch of celebrities stopping in to celebrate and have a drink or two. So long as Shia is still relevant (and I see no reason why he wouldn't be for the foreseeable future), it could be an annual tradition for many years.

I agree. I think the dude is pretty talented. I don't have anything against him.

Self awareness is a dying virtue in this country. Even though I still hate his acting and most of his movies, I like him just a little bit more because of this interview.
(And he was great in Holes - I give credit where credit is due - because he was a kid, I think of it as a different person, like I do with Bale. I hate the adult Bale, too, but at least that cat can act when he wants to.)

The whole concept was genius. His reaction to the scene in Even Stevens is genuine and lets you see him as a regular person and not some pompous movie star. I am on the LeBeouf bandwagon.
