Did anyone else find this season one of the best this show has ever produced? I loved that the focus shifted mostly from outside influences to the Gallaghers relationships between each other. The level of pure dislike early on for Frank is off the charts, only for him to later do the nicest thing for his kids by far in any season by getting Liam into private school.

The finale was so well done that I thought it might be the end of the show, and I wouldn't have minded one bit if it stopped at that point. I was choked up. No crazy Steve popping up at the end.

Just Lip outside rehab, Ian as an EMT, Fiona approaching her first real estate investment, and Debbie learning welding next to a cute guy.

All of these could go to shite at any moment because they're Gallaghers, but it looked like the family's support of each other finally was noticed by everyone in the clan and taken seriously as a reason to turn their shite around and be better. The show left real hope those final moments in the season would be the beginning of a better future for this family.

Man, what a ride. For a show to come back this strong out of nowhere was truly shocking.

MVP definitely goes to Carl and Captain Not-Holt. I died laughing during the blood test scene. What a great storyline to throw to break it up a little while demonstrating what a real father figure can do for these kids.

0% chance that Fiona isn't getting scammed. None.

Normally I'd agree with you, but she seemed to really be doing her due diligence with this one. It wasn't like the laundrymat. But your point is also why I would have been ok with it stopping there. There's hope that she isn't. With them having to continue storylines into next season, I'd suspect you're right.

I find myself rooting more and more for Fiona and Debbie to screw up and Lip, Ian, and Kevin to succeed.

I feel like it might be a decent plot twist if Fiona actually succeeds, but then has to bail out one of the other kids and that screws up her business. "Twist" is probably not the right word.

It's the reverse Entourage. Literally anything goes well and BAM writers make it go to shite.

Better than 4-6 but not better than 1-3.

Still one of favorite shows though.

Actually I thought it was one of the worst seasons, if not the worst all together. They've gotten way too far from what made it great early on. The show is just a ridiculous caricature of its former self.

Ditto. From what I've read, at the time they shot it, they didn't know if there was going to be another season. They agreed to Emmy's contract demands after the fact.

The change in tone really started last season. It was much better than the last couple, and you could tell the way they wrote the development of the characters changed.

This is a Ludacrus statement. You can say the show isn't as good but it's not a caricature of itself

They did a great job of finally acknowledging that Frank is actually quite intelligent. He's a piece of shite, but he always seems to fall forward and get at least a piece of what he wants. The college appeal was one of the better parts of the season.

Lip is just Frank, but he aspires not to be. That's the only difference between them at this point.
