I read the Mortal Instrument books and I watched the first movie, so I was interested in the TV show. Has anyone watched it, thoughts?

Right there with you. I am kind of meh on it. It is better than the shitshow of a movie they put out though, but just meh to me so far. I mainly only watch cause my wife and kids get into it.

Me too. My wife watches it, but I think Clary's character on the show is horrid.

Read all the books but was very disappointed in the movie. Wanted to catch series. What channel and when does it come on?

it's on Free Form channel, it's what ABC Family is called now. Direct TV is 311

It finally hit me last night why I am "Meh" on it. It seems as if the whole thing is in fast-forward, much like the movie which I was "meh" on. There is no character development at all. None. Plus, do they have to use music on every scene? Gets very annoying.

I keep willing the show to get better because I loved the books so much. A bit melodramatic with overacting, but I'm hoping everyone settles down soon enough for it to get into a decent groove.

I watched the first 4 episodes last night.
I like what they have done with the casting, and it definitely seems like a stronger group than the movie.
New izzy is SMOKING!!!
Im not sold on the Clary actress just yet, im not sure shes going to be strong enough to anchor the show. IMO they need to have the Jace character anchor the show. The storyline is just as much his as her in the books and a much strong actor it seems so far.
Im hoping that they dont literally just follow the books episode to episode, they have a whole world to work with and could lead them to bring in some VERY interesting characters if they want to.
Im in for at least the first season, well see how it goes.

I've admittedly watched just out of shear curiosity (haven't read the books). It's not my favorite show by any means but I enjoy it.

Decent show but it doesn't follow the books and I liked the books better than this new TV series.
