Screen Junkies Declares Ghostbusters Greatest Summer Blockbuster

Ghostbusters greatest summer blockbuster of all-time?
Am I the only one that has an immense problem with this?
In order to qualify for the bracket, the film had to have been released between Memorial Day and Labor Day. It also had to be the highest-grossing film of that summer.
The 16 films were seeded based on adjusted gross revenue and then paired off in a single-elimination tournament.
By the way, Jaws didn't make the final four.

Maybe. It was a stunning film, visually - a reasonably large budget, scifi, comedy - despite the proven talent team, it was a bit of a gamble. They had the Star Wars model ready to go with the toys, the tie ins, all the merchandising deals, plus cartoon spinoffs (much of which took off after the film exploded).
It is very, very rewatchable, which helped this film because that was the era in which people would go see a film in the theater over and over.
It was fun, light, works for science fiction nerds, works for Halloween stuff, kids of all ages, etc., broad appeal.
It remains my favorite comedy and in my Top 5 to 10 favorite films, overall.

The answer was, is, and always will be Star Wars.

I think Jaws was named #1 last year by EW.

It's based on adjusted gross revenue at the box office.

I actually laughed at that picture. Is McCarthy going to be the Egon character?

They all look about as thrilled to be in that movie as I am to see it.

Doubt she could pull off a female Peter Venkman.

Either these are 4 phenomenal actresses "in character" for a scene, or making this film is the most miserable experience for the 4 of them, ever - ever.

I don't remember the original release of Jaws or Star Wars, but I've heard they were in theaters consistently for about a year. The only one I remember being in first-run theaters close to that long was E.T. But, then again, for some blockbuster films back then it could be two or more years before it was released on video.

The "stars" ( at calling these gals "stars") don't have trailers or nothing?

if its your scene they are setting up you usually arent going to be in the trailer.
plus at you trying to say MM in specific isnt a star. She's on a hit sitcom and has had 3 movies now hit $100 million (The Heat, Spy, Identity Thief) in the US and a 4th if you count Bridesmaids which Wiig was the main star of.

McCarthy's name is a money maker whether it's a popular concept on here or not.
