watching on TNT right now and holy shite, I know I've made fun of DC movies for using too much cgi/instagram filters over every second of those movies, but I've never noticed this before:

youtube

The water is splashing up from the river before the bus ever touches the water.

That's because chunks of concrete are raining down into the water.

I watched the scene more than once. I found it distracting.

There are so many things that are actually wrong with this movie and you chose this to discuss.

That actually looks like a practical effect.

And the parts of the bridge that broke off are causing the water to splash you moron.

This.

Clark saving the bus is one of the better scenes in the movie.

Maybe, but it still looks like too much water being exploded up. It's a small amount of concrete but it looks like the splash is caused by the bus.

Not that big a deal in the grand scheme of things, but the op has a point. So do you, but, you know, to be fair to op.

Man of Steel wasn't my generation's Superman.

I like the cliche version.

chunks of concrete
I would think a safe guesstimate is about 15'-20' of concrete barrier was taken out and blown ahead of the bus. That much concrete had to be at least 4,000-6,000lbs. I'm thinking 5,000lbs of concrete chunks thrown from that height would create quite a splash ahead of the bus.
