The plot is irrelevant to the movie?

Those details are, at the very least, minor. The entire movie (as well as the book) is a clever carnival ride. It's the relation between the two main characters and the examination of media and public reaction that matter.

No, I don't think so.

The plot matters. Their final relationship would not have been possible if the detective had simply asked the obvious questions I asked, and if the answers were unimportant then why include those details in the story at all?

Frankly, I don't honestly remember the details you're complaining about. That's how important they were to the story.

Sure seems like that's the only threads he starts here on this board.

neither did I. It was pretty predictable, anti-climactic, and, like you said, replete with holes.

It's a movie that was made with the intention to tell an unbelievable story.

bullshite. The entire build up is how this chick was such a master criminal that had set her husband up, planned every last detail, exercised remarkable diligence, restraint, and forethought with the intention of not only setting him up, but utterly destroying him and then murdering him, via death penalty. Then she gets robbed and tards out and goes into ludicrous mode.

Gotta go with Rex on this one.

Movie was watchable, but that's about the best praise I can give. It had promise but didn't deliver in the end.

I really enjoyed it....until about the last 30 minutes or so.

It was too long and just ran out of steam at the end. I'm all for surprises in movies, but this one had too many twists and turns.

I enjoyed all of it. Yes there were a LOT of leaps you had to make to assume she would get away with "coming back to life", but I think that is partially the point of the movie. The American public had an image of her that she was this perfect being, Awesome Amy in true form. Ben Affleck was guilty and a monster. They declared him guilty because they needed a monster to cast down for taking someone so perfect from the world. They literally forgave nothing of his actual innoncence as he was the bad guy in their eyes.

The public is so relieved to have Amy back that they literally don't give a shite if it makes no sense. The Angel is risen and good has prevailed. They still see Nick as a bad guy for cheating and they just transfer their hate to NPH for attempting to kill Amy. Even when Nick asks where she could have gotten the box cutter, the guy cop, who always thought Nick guilty, still treats him like an a-hole dismissing it by saying "just be happy she's back." The Detective lady tried to push but was drowned out by the authorities wanting their resurrection story. (I agree this was too far-fetched and could have been written much better)

IMO, the majority of the story was a pshyco-thriller that put you on the edge of your seat. The ending took suspending disbelief, but I found it to be based on societies need to cast people in specific roles. To use a recent case of contreversy, Michael Brown was good/evil and Darren Wilson evil/good. By the time the facts came out, everyone had determined that "their guy" was the good guy. It didn't matter what the facts would show, they knew who was evil and who was wrongfully accused. Despite overwhelming evidence that Michael Brown attacked a cop and brought his own shooting upon himself, there is still an outspoken group that insist that the good guy was killed in cold blood and that the bad guy is getting away with it. Just the way I chose to take the movie, which I still think is really good.

I liked it because it made Nancy Grace out to be the devil, which she is. It also made her followers look like mindless sheep, which they are.

watched it a few weeks ago and thought the same thing. i agree with most here that it started out good and then lost steam. it was a decent movie, but nothing more than that.

but we DO care. there may be an initial emotional reaction, but we will investigate...like the UVA case

i'm one of the bigger "guys be careful for crazy chicks and false allegations of rape and domestic violence" but this movie was a caricature

it tried to push this angle against the media while never developing the angle with the media. it just kind of pops up here or there

i did legit "lol" at the scene at NPH's when she got bug-eyed for batfleck playing her and NPH getting all fussy. i did like how they had the major reveal in the middle and we got to see that side and watch that side unwind...i just didn't like where it ended up

quote:

that put you on the edge of your seat.

this part i disagree with, and a big reason was b/c of the mid-movie reveal (that made it interesting)
