Now that there is a little distance between the first viewing and now, has anyone dropped this movie in the rankings yet.

I'd say after letting this movie soak in, that overall, it really sucked save for the last 20 minutes - which really were only good because I considered that an extension of A New Hope.

I wouldn't say it sucked. I was just glad that I was watching a Star Wars movie and that it did well enough for Disney to pursue more movies outside of the original story lines with new characters.

Enjoyed some parts, hated others. I wish they would remove Saw Guerrara from it, he was an awful character.

It was the first attempt to create an interquel film within Star Wars.

In that, it passed with flying colors.

Easily one of the 8 best movies ever made, alongside Episodes 1-7. Nothing will come close to its brilliance until Episode 8 comes out later this year.

Saw Gerrera is actually a great character, who has now been seen in two shows and a film (Clone Wars as a 20-something, Rogue One as a broken down 40-something, and Rebels as a 40-something slightly less crazy)

He's also the first character introduced in Clone Wars to make a movie appearance. In Clone Wars, he is far more optimistic until his older sister dies in front of him.

So it passed with flying colors simply because it was the first attempt at something? That's a low bar. I can't wait to see Rocky re-made in Latin and acted out by Catholic priests then. First attempt and all.

i said right after i saw it, the first hour was very disappointing and the last 30mins is what everyone is going to talk about.

My impression of it is still the same. Great third act. The rest is a little meh.

Overall, I liked it. As an earlier poster said... one of the effects of this movie is that it shows that expanded universe stories are viable at the box office.

I think this was a successful Star Wars movie.

some big actors like to over act. in small roles to try and take the spotlight.

I liked it. But since it featured almost no Jedi fighting, i didn't love it. Just a personal thing since I love the Force stuff.

The SW universe would be much bigger if they didn't force the viewers to focus on the same stuff from the original trilogy in every new movie.

I can't wait for them, assuming they do, to introduce the unknown territories with no skywalkers or any OT reference. Something completely new. Then I'll start thinking the SW universe is large again.

Take the standalone films for what they are.
It will be some good stories to tell.

I'm sure the goal is to keep them from taking the luster off the new stories being told in 7,8, and 9.

Looks like Christmas is the best time to release them, they might get lost during summer releases.

I can see them doing this way down the line. After this trilogy and it's spin offs are completed but not until then. Episodes 1-9 are going to be focused on The Skywalkers and that's the way it should be. I've only seen Rogue One once but thoroughly enjoyed it. It was slow in some parts but it wasn't as cheesy as other SW movies so it felt like it was carrying more weight by default. Especially knowing how it all turns out before the movie even begins.

I just hope that years from now they do some version of the Old Republic.

I'll never understand how so many people from Baton Rouge can misspell the word Rogue

I liked having the backstory behind the Death Star and seeing it in action. I really liked the ending too.

I agree it would be cool to see an expanded universe but it'd be a big risk too. Eventually it'll probably happen but audiences are so invested in the current timeline and characters now.

I just thought it was boring and had very shallow characters.

Not really nope. It wet my appetite for Episode 8 and broadened the universe a bit.

I will say that I do not understand Disney's obsession with giant CGI tentacle monsters in Star Wars. I also like the soundtrack a lot less the more I listen to it. Some tunes sound like Star Wars, but most of it doesn't. The Imperial theme is completely pointless. Why not use Imperial March or some variant of that?

Didn't have Jar Jar Binks so it was a major success.

I still like the movie overall as a whole however all the new characters were terrible and there were way too many of them. The first half of the movie is pretty crap but the last 45 minutes to an hour saves the movie.
