I thought Sinister was really good. Also Mamma is worth a watch too. Not really scary just creepy.

Megan is Missing seems like it has kind of a Poughkeepsie Tapes feel to it. The Bay I feel like I could be disappointed in, but it looks interesting enough. And Loved Ones, I saw the trailer for that one a while back but forgot about it. I'm glad I saw it again in this thread.

Megan is Missing is scary because is pretty real(that's why it's so disturbing), though it does also lampoon the situation at one point.

The Bay was ok, it downgraded itself from what initially looked like a realistic circumstance to something maybe a little like "Piranhas" without the comedy.

Haev you ever seen The Poughkeepsie Tapes? It's pretty fricked up. It's pretty good though, and definitely pretty realistic.

I googled Megan is Missing and some of the pics that came up reminded me of TPT. You used to be able to watch it on youtube, but not sure if that's still there.

I've got it in my bookmarks of movies to watch, and reading a bit I can see what you are referring to in comparison.

I saw the YouTube link earlier, I might knock that one out today.

Bump.

Okay, so I watched Megan is Missing over the weekend, and it's pretty fricked up. It's weird because certain parts of the movie were just really disturbing and unsettling for me, and then other parts were just plain bad.

The acting is pretty terrible all around, and the content of some of the discussion feels like it's simply trying to push the envelope rather than be decent dialogue. But it does sit badly with you that there are really people out there who do this kinda shite, so that's prolly the worst thing about the movie.

Spoilers..

As for the actual things in the movie, there are basically three bad parts. The first is when Megan is talking about blowing her camp counselor when she was ten years old. WAY too much detail and way over the top. I mean shite, I only jacked it like twice during that scene. The next bad thing is the rape scene...that one actually seemed pretty realistic, so that was kinda difficult to watch. And finally, when he shoves Amy into the barrel with Megan (who was already dead)...you could see it coming a mile away, but I was glad they actually showed the body (sort of a payoff for all the buildup). But it was a pretty disturbing way to dispose of someone (who is alive). And the last 15 minutes or so when he's digging the grave and she's begging him to let her out...it's kinda disturbing at first, but then gets kinda aggravating because it lasts SO long. Literally the last like 15-17 minutes of the movie is the guy digging a grave and Amy begging for her life (from inside a barrel with her dead best friend.

All in all, the movie itself isn't very good at all, but there are a few parts that are genuinely disturbing (which is what a movie like this is made for). I do get frustrated with movies like this sometimes though, because people wouldn't just be on video chat every waking moment of their lives...it doesn't ever feel realistic at all.

There are also "news segments" throughout the movie, and they are perhaps the worst thing about the whole thing. They're poorly scripted, VERY poorly acted, and almost feel like you're watching SNL or something like that. Very, very stupid and took a lot away from an already bad movie. The newsreel acting is the worst in a movie filled with very terrible acting already.

Before I watched this one, I compared it to The Poughkeepsie Tapes (based on the MiM trailer). Well, just FYI, TPT is MUCH better than this one (it's pretty fricked up too, but tries harder to make it seem real I guess).
