Loved it. The characters were intricate and fascinating, and the acting was fantastic. Bigfoot really stole the show in this one. I was also surprised to see a cameo from one of my very favorite porn stars. Didn't expect that.
The characters did mumble a lot, though, and I had to rewind it to hear what they said, sometimes to no avail. I also wished I'd read the book, which I now will.

Interesting, this is why I really liked The Master. Im a big PTA fan but haven't got around to seeing this one. Perhaps the mixed reviews, mostly bad it seems, got me to hold off. I'll rent it on Amazon soon.

I think the poor reviews are based on straight story criticism. The plot is often very unclear and seemingly pointless. To be honest, I think PTA just wanted to paint an intricate picture and let the audience make up its own interpretation. I just liked the overall feel and thought the characters and situations were interesting, but I can see why a lot of people wouldn't like it.
The casting was insane. I got the feeling that this must have been a script that a lot of actors clamored to be a part of.

Loved the acting, but the story line was just way too much for me...(mainly the ending)
