I was really hoping you would chime in here. Why do you rank 2 so low?
Because its a hollow shell of what Season One was. The revelations in flashbacks weren't even in the ballpark of what we saw in the first season. To top it off they literally do a reset button at the end of the season.
I also think the episode quality was on average lower and the series didn't have the boldness that the other 5 seasons did. Sure there are a few gems here like "One of Them" and "The 23rd Psalm", but for the most part Season 1's episodes are much higher quality, Season 3 and 6 reach much higher heights, Season 4 has better tension, pacing, and character arcs, and Season 5, while failing in many aspects, still has some ambition that is to be admired over the second season.

Season 2 is the best of the series, tail section, henry gale story line, how can a LOST fan not like season 2?!

The tail section was entirely pointless. They were all killed off by Season 3, so who cares?
Henry Gale was a bright spot though for sure. I just think anyone who thinks its the best needs to rewatch the series. It's almost indisputably worse than the first season. Plus it takes forever for the season to really start.

Not gonna read any of this thread before my post because there are probably spoilers, but...
I just started watching season 1 last night. Managed to watch the first 6 episodes before going to sleep. I am hooked! That old man is creepy. Also, I don't understand how Jack was thrown so far away from the plane and the rest of the passengers. Is that going to be revealed later or am I looking into it too much?

John Locke? I thought so too at first but he ended up being probably my favorite

Yeah don't worry about that

1,4,3,2,5...........6.
6 had way too many crappy storylines (wasting time at the Temple, flashsideways, etc.) The sideways had a great payoff but they should have been in half as many episodes and just run 8 traditional episodes flashbacks/forwards/sideways free. That way we would have gotten more answers to questions that remain unsolved.

YEESSSS!! Welcome to the club
LOST had aired for 4 seasons before me and some buddies decided to see what all the fuss was about. We were all in college at the time and it was summer break. We went to the local video store and rented the 1st disc (4 episodes). After that disc was over, I'm not sure how much sunlight we saw the next few weeks. We would literally wake up, go to dude's apt (we lived in the same complex), turn out the lights, break out the beers and other such mood altering things, and just watch LOST end on end until bed time. It was pretty maddening watching seasons 5 and 6 live and having to wait a week in between

yeah, Locke definitely has a weird vibe to him. His character arc will take you in a bunch of different directions.

Not really a big deal, don't worry about it. LOST will have many, many, many questions that you need to just don't worry about because they're so trivial and not really important to the story. Most of the BIG questions that are presented will be answered.
Season 1 I feel like almost gets better with every episode. It starts out great for sure, but after the initial feeling out period with the survivors and them just trying to find ways to remain alive, the story really takes off and just keeps on going.

That will be the absolute least of your issues, I promise you.

Sonofa, I was thinking about rewatching them after I finish Battlestar Galactica.
All I know is season 5 was horrendous. By far the worst season for me, it was painful and really hard to finish.

Contains general spoilers:
1: One of my favorite seasons of any television show. Many of the episodes are classic, and the whole thing was just so fresh and original.
2 and 3: Excellent. Some flaws but overall still both outstanding seasons of tv. There were a few low points (cough*Stranger in a Strange Land* cough), but lots of high points like the surpises in Two for the Road and the epsFlashes Before Your Eyes, and Through the Looking Glass.
6: Unlike a lot of people, I enjoyed the end and I felt like it tied everything together well.
4 and 5: To me, these two seasons were the low point of the show. Both were still very good, which shows just how great LOST really was, but the freighter plot in Season 4 and the time jumps of Season 5 were just not my favorite. I didn't really care for the direction they took Ben's character or what they did with Locke.

I actually liked the freighter angle. It was a team of badasses that we really didn't know much about that were up to no good. It added a good angle of mystery and suspense.
I was pretty turned off by the whole time travel thing. Losties actually being IN dharma? Meh. I also thought the temple storyline was kind of pointless.

Since I watched them on Netflix all the seasons run together, but whatever season had the Jin/Sun flashbacks the most was the worst one.

I've found myself during this first season rewatch fast forwarding through conversations between claire/sun, or any other combination of tier 2 or tier 3 losties.

I do agree with the board that the first season is the best. It was incredible. Love when they are sitting around camp fire and Smokey shows up for the first time.
