I was watching Missouri Breaks last night. Very good picture. I noticed Randy Quaid in it, and it got me thinking. I liked him in The Last Detail, Midnight Express, and The Long Riders, and other things. I think he might just be the better actor of the two.

Randy does seem to do a better job of really "owning" the characters he plays. I like them both, but neither is probably good enough to carry a movie.

I know most Louisiana people liked Dennis because of his performances as Billy Cannon and Jerry Lee Lewis but Dennis Quaid is a poor man's Harrison Ford.

His accent alone in the movie "The Big Easy" negates any love from Louisiana of his previous performances...

I like them both, but out of the two, Randy is the better comic actor, Dennis is the better dramatic actor.

I don't understand the hate for Dennis Quaid on this board. He is awesome in a lot of his roles. The Right Stuff, Everybody's All American, Postcards From the Edge, Any Given Sunday,Wyatt Earp. He has been very good in many roles. He has been in some stinkers, but so have a lot of actors.

I certainly wasn't hating on him.

Nobody has mentioned "Enemy Mine" yet. One of my all time favorite movies.

Me Neither! Just pointing out his horrible New Orleans accent and his over use of the word "Cher" pronounced like the singer.

he was great in "Frequency" and "Traffic" also

Randy was also in B. Mountain and The Last Picture Show. I guess Dennis got all the looks.

You don't really believe that do you?

The novel was about a fictional UNC star. The movie changed it to LSU.

The author said it was a composite, so certainly Cannon's life could have had some influence, but the movie shouldn't be taken for the Billly Cannon story.

Can't read the name Dennis Quaid without recalling his portrayal of Detective Remy McSwain in the Big Easy. Simply horrible.
