Question: how long after a movie is out do you still have to include "spoilers"?

Is there a length of time after a movie comes out that it is still expected to include the tag spoilers when referencing? I figured two to three years was adequate.
TIA.

Don't tell that to Tactical1 and Fun Bunch
They'll bitch about you spoiling Spartacus.

Also, what is a spoiler?
Does Raiders of the Lost Arc have any spoilers? I understand things like SW: I'm your Father, but not sure how many things are spoilers

According to this board, forever.

If a movie has a major plot twist, I think you should post a warning, even for older films.

Depends on context and type of spoiler. Some people think any insignificant detail that they happen to not already know is a spoiler. My answer is sort of forever. There isn't really a time limit, say if something is kind of obscure. But certain iconic moments are usually safe. It's on them if after like 30 years they haven't seen Empire Strikes Back or after over 40 years they still haven't seen The Godfather, and you say something as a general pop culture reference assuming they have seen it, as extreme examples.

If these spoiler cops cared so much about spoiling a movie they had interest in, you'd think they would carve out some time to watch within 3 or 4 years.

Depends on the movie and how major the spoiler is.

Death of charatcer in the thread title of a 3 year old movie that wasn't a hit.
Don't be fricking stupid.

I don't think there's a black and white rule.
For message boards like this, it doesn't take 2 seconds to just say *SPOILERS* in the title or post so that always seems like a good idea. On the other hand, if you're starting a topic about a movie, most people who haven't seen it would avoid it anyway.
As for just randomly dropping spoilers in a thread or post that has nothing to do with said movie, I don't know. That's a tough question.

Why are you so angry? If you would have just said to add "spoilers' to the title, I would have easily complied. But since you wanted to be a dick about it, now I'm going to annoy the frick out of you.
BTW, Thanks for spoiling the plane crash at the end of Air Force One, you dumb frick!

I will if you spoil Men in Black for me.

Yeah because blockbuster films ingrained into pop culture that came out in 1997 is the same thing as starting a thread with a title detailing which actor bites the dust of a less popular film that's 3 years old.

Spoiler alert for 99% of action movies, the good guy wins, the bad guy loses.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Wasn't try to start anything but The Counselor topic got me wondering. I agree most major twists or iconic movies should be protected. Lesser known movies that are a few years old are less safe.
BTW that Pitt scene was gruesome. I imagine that's what being married to uptight Jolie feels like.
