Since it's come on twice in a row tonight, I've realized that in the first scene Cameron Poe is coming back from some sort of military deployment, covered in medals, and his wife is already very newly pregnant. So...when did the impregnation happen? Is Hummingbird a cheating harlot?!

This movie and Armageddon are two of the GOAT movies where once you see it's on tv you have to watch no matter what scene it's on haha!

Why did he go to prison for what was clearly self-defense?

At first I thought it would have to be while he was on trial after the murder (self-defense!!)... but did he get conjugal visits (and he kisses her belly as soon as he sees her in the first scene).
The only possible answer might be that he simply wasn't away @war for very long. Maybe just a month or two... and maybe they're so excited to see each other because it's the first time they've seen each other since she found out she was preggers with Kacey?

It was probably Johnny 23

He deserved to go to prison for that fake-arse accent.

SOF usually deploy for shorter periods. 90 days or less at a time.

This is true, I evaluated a guy whose deployments might last a few days or a week. I guess as long as it took him to eliminate his target

Absolutely. I'd put The Rock in that category too.

He killed a guy using self defense in Alabama, but was sent to serve 7 years in San Quentin? WTF?

Maybe there's a deleted flashback scene where he was caught banging the DA's mom or wife so he was pushing for much tougher sentencing?
