Does Curly Bill shoot Marshal Fred White on purpose? He's so stoned, he seems to have lost his sense of reason. Immediately after shooting the Marshal, he asks what happened and seems genuinely confused.

Just curious how you read this scene.

"Drunk piano player, he's probably seeing double." "I've got 2 guns, 1 for each of you!"

I don't think he was cognisant of who he shot but he was all out of fricks to give. A little bit of his crazy under belly coming out with no inhibitions.

Chasing the dragon will get ya.

I always felt like Curly Bill was just such a bad person instinctively that he shot Fred White almost as a natural reaction, plus he was incredibly fricked up. I also feel like he felt genuine remorse once he realized "oh shite, can't take that one back."

It kind of felt like he just realized as he was doing it that he just went too far. But also like "oh well "

History is ambiguous. In the movie he clearly intended to and then realized what he had done.

You think so? It was hard to tell watching it today. He seemed pretty genuine when he asked, "What happened?"

He was so high he didn't know what he was doing. His character was a bit odd in that he would behave well sometimes and tolerated the openly gay Jason priestly and expressed mild fear at johnny ringo's insanity but was also protective of his own status as the boss of the cowboys.

I don't think it can be said any better than this.

Favorite line in the movie I think I crack up everytime he says it. His demeanor is what makes that line so great
