Adam Carolla created a documentary about Paul Newman's life as a race car driver. This looks very interesting and if any of you listen to the Adam Carolla Show podcast then you know he is a huge fan. I would say that Paul Newman is Adam Carollas idol, as Adam has always said he liked Newman's drive and self starter mindset. He even owns several of Newman's old race cars. If this documentary is any reflection of Adam Carollas personality, then it will not be half assed. Even if you don't like racing, it seems like a good documentary. I know that is why I watch documentaries, to learn about something that interests me that I don't know much about.

Thanks! I didn't know this was being made. Definitely a must-see.

Newman won multiple SCCA national championships and was seriously respected by Mario Andretti. Steve McQueen was better known than Newman for his car and motorcycle racing, but Mario did not rate him—he just saw McQueen as a "gentleman driver," but he rated Newman. Newman later started the Newman/Haas team with Carl Haas to run Mario in CART, where they won multiple Indycar championships with Mario, Michael, and later Nigel Mansell.

Despite his busy career as an actor, philanthropist and race team owner, Newman continued to race, and at age 70 he became the oldest driver to win a professional race when he won his class at the 24 hrs of Daytona driving with Mark Martin and Tommy Kendall as teammates. The car wore the number 70 to reflect his age:

The guy was a real American bad-arse.
