Orange is the New Black Season 2 *SPOILER THREAD*

Realize we had a thread going for the new season, but it was spoiler free. WARNING- this is a discussion of season 2 in its entirety. If you have not seen all 13 episodes you should probably GTFO before proceeding further.

My season 2 reflections:
Vee made Taystee a shell of her former self this season. It sucked. Although it was nice to see her get some mojo back in the finale.
On a similar note crazy eyes is a shell of her former self too now that she wasted this season being vee's lap dog. I feel like crazy eyes was sort of crazy goofy in season 1, but in season 2 she was borderline insane. How could a mental liability like her be in minimum security?
Was this season better because there was less Larry? Also less Alex has been great.
Mr Healy is such an interesting character. I can't decide if he's one of the good guys or the bad guys.
Cindy may be the biggest piece of shite in Linchfield. A lot of the back stories give you some sort of empathy or relatable trait to them, despite the crimes committed. Hers just made me want to give her a good cooter kick.
The most unrealistic aspect of this show is that not just one, but two dudes are "in love" with daiya. She's not even in the top 10 hottest Latinas in there, and her personality is fricking terrible.
On that note, how does Bennett get away with talking to Daiya every day in public? Nobody notices or thinks that's strange?
Never would have pegged Lorna for a stage 5 clinger. Nice curveball
Tucky took a back seat to other characters this season, not much focus on her after she got dem teeth.
Really bummed we didn't find out why soso ended up in prison. Any good guesses?
The wardens husband being gay seemed like an irrelevant plot line to bring in, no one is going to feel bad for her since she's so awful.
Reds damn fault for letting Vee go in the Saran Wrap scene. She should know better.
Polly and Larry deserve each other after the scene where they went to get Pipers blessing. Ughhh.
The ending with the cancer lady driving away was great. She'll clearly be caught in less than 20 minutes, but homegirl is going to be dead in less than a month, so she deserved one last hoorah. And of course as a huge bonus she took out Vee :golf clap:

I've only seen the first episode so far, but holy shite it reaffirmed how much I hate Alex. God her character is awful, I cringe every time I see her, and Piper is a fricking idiot when she is around

Yes, they improved the show by cutting the outside of prison stories. But like you said with your shell of former selves comments, they took away some good stuff too. I liked season 1 better overall, but V made a good villain even though she dragged the show down a darker path.

So was the scene in the gay bath house. This is the "Liberal agenda pushed down our throats" stuff overly sensitive people make a big deal about and list as a reason they won't watch the show. They're right, it is there, but like you said, it doesn't really affect the show.

I think that was the right call. They already told us most of her back story last season and there really wasn't too much new you could do with her.

An assault is more likely to get you sent to solitary for a month than transferred to maximum security with years added like killing her would. I was surprised V didn't kill Red but again, assault is easier to get away with just a slap on the wrist, murder has serious consequences.

I liked the ending too. 2 inmates escaped, both likely killed while on the run, Caputo might get fired after just 2 days on the job
I think the biggest mistake of season 2 was counting on the nun and Soso to be interesting characters. If they could have been as funny as Crazy Eyes or Pennsatucky last season, or as interesting as the cancer patient this season, season 2 might have been better, but those 2 story lines fell flat for me.

My thoughts:
frick Vause. I was seriously hoping the drug kingpin was going to kill her in the last episode.
Felt really bad for Crazy Eyes. Really obvious that she has serious mental illness that makes her feel isolated, especially since she was raised in a white family. Vee gave her the acceptance from a black woman that she has always wanted, only to manipulate her in the end. Really fricked up. Also, Vee arranging for that dude who she raised to get shot by a cop. Holy crap.
Morello's storyline was solid this season. Homegirl went full on Alanis "Your House" on that dude. I had an idea in season 1 that something wasn't right with the whole fiancee thing, but this was a twist I couldn't have imagined.
I felt like the Chapman storyline kind of took a backseat to all of the other characters and I'm not complaining. Vee was the star of this season. Really hoping that Polly and Larry ride off into the sunset and aren't back next season.
Soso was in prison for some activism shenanigans. They mentioned that a few times.
All in all a really good season on par with the first. It's going to be a long wait until the next one.

i really did enjoy how the majority of the season focused on Vee vs Red instead of piper and her shite.
piper really got on my nerves towards the end of last season.
The electrician and piper's brother are the two best characters on the show too.
i think i read an interview that Nikki wasn't going to be in season 3 either, which sucks.

Liked seeing Piper put the screws to Alex, putting her back in the pen.
Kinda weary of Diaz and Bennett now, thought it'd be better having porn stache back.

I do agree that Taystee and Crazy Eyes' characters were slighted in the 2nd season because of the introduction of Vee.

I really enjoyed this season. I thought the fact that Crazy Eyes losing her shite on Piper after the Christmas Show to make it look like a fair fight was a nice twist. The entire first episode was great. Miss Rosa's storyline was awesome as well.

It may have been, but I remember in the court scene flashback that they mentioned Morello putting an explosive device under the girlfriend's car or something. Also, when he came to visit her in prison to tell her "he knew it was her that broke into his house" he said something like "have you learned nothing during your time in prison". It just made me think she was in there for other reasons.

I honestly think that Piper ratted on Alex in the finale not out of spite, but out of EXTREME selfishness. Larry and her are through and she wants Alex back.

I think it's a combination of both.
Btw....for those that haven't read the book the series is based off of.....the IRL Piper is not as annoying.
