Thread regarding the reboot.

With the embargo still up here are some tidbits leaking from European debut-

quote:

You know that bit in the trailers where they dump the Thing from an airplane and he goes on a mission? That whole scene is missing.

There is an IMDB poster, and yes I realize how terrible IMDB can be, but apparently this guy is an actual European critic (over 20k films reviewed)... his profile

Other things he said-
quote:

I've seen the movie. Doom is one of the main problems...

...

[Estimating how much money the movie will make on opening weekend.] Less than 100 million, and it's unlikely to open at #1, if Rogue Nation is still going strong.

...

The CGI is OK, and there are no continuity errors, though you can tell stuff was cut and reshot. It's not bad, really, just... Disappointing and charmless.

...

Wait til you see the film. The bit where they come up with the team's name is groan-inducing...

...

They teleport roughly halfway through the movie.

...

And studio heads aren't idiots either. If they decide to embargo reviews until the last possible minute, or worse, not let the press see the movie at all, they know they have a poor product on their hands.

...

If Marvel Studios had made the exact same Fantastic Four movie I saw yesterday morning, I'd still be disappointed.

...

No, it's just bland. You can tell it's been cut down and reshot, and Michael B. Jordan looks like the only guy who wants to be there.

...

F4 looks great but feels hollow, primarily because they jump straight from the first act to the third (at least one major sequence was removed entirely). And, like I said, the only one who appears to actually give a damn about delivering a compelling performance is Michael B. Jordan (plus Reg E. Cathey).

...

[I only prefer realistic comic book movies.] You're going to hate this film, then.

This film is a poor man's MCU film. Same formula, minus the charm.

It doesn't look destined for good reviews. Movie just doesn't look that good.

How long until this goes the way of Spider-Man.

I'll give it 2 years max before they give it over to the MCU and they reboot the entire thing, again. Before its all said and done, almost all the Marvel characters will be over at Disney in the MCU except for the X-Men.

Cast hasn't seen the film - and it's out in a few days

quote:

The cast of the new Fantastic Four movie have admitted they've yet to see the finished film.
The Marvel blockbuster, which opens in a few days, hasn't been shown to critics.
But the lead actors - Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Jamie Bell and Michael B. Jordan - say they've not been shown a final version either.

I'm glad some of the actors got a good payday, I'm sure.

But this movie needs to bomb. Fox needs to lose this property. Let the MCU have Dr. Doom already.

Even if marvel studios got the rights back they need let the FF franchise sit for awhile or not even bother at all with it. I'd take silver surfer, galactus and dr doom use only them in future marvel movies

Wow. That is a serious blow for this film.

Side note, I'd like to see some of this cast in different roles in the MCU. MBJ in particular.

Wow

Scarlett Johansson didn't see Ultron prior to its premiere. It's not unheard of.

But of course everything sucks in this forum, so flame on.

Maybe, but you must admit, this is pretty damning and severely lacking in confidence for the final product.

I wasn't ever going to watch this movie. No fantastic four movie made has interested me in the least, and this one looks to be no different. Maybe ill catch it for free in a few years to entertain me for a few hours. Again, another example of hollywood producing shite, and expecting to cash in on it. Please, people, do not go see bullshite. It costs a fortune to go to the movies, and they put this shite effort into it? GMAFB.

And it was similar to the "Amazing Spider-man" motivations, and those sucked too. I hate how such great content can be so mishandled and trashed around. Thanks alot to all the dickheads who participated in forcing this abomination down our throats.

pun intended?

I wouldn't liked to see Michael B Jordan as Black Panther or another MCU role. The dude is pretty good and comes across well on screen but I think this one is just a fricking turd that won't see another film. Did these actors sign multi-film deals?

I know you're a big fan of the Xfilms, are you particularly interested in the F4,outside of the chance it could possibly be connected to the X franchise down the line?

Do you feel if this movie sucks (which many signs are pointing that direction) it's indicative of Fox-Marvel as a whole?

A few weeks ago we touched on this Marvel Studios vs. Fox-Marvel debate, do you think that Marvel Studios could make better movies with all of their IPs? Or do you think Singer is that great of a filmmaker that you want him to make X-movies over and over again, beating the same drum.

Do you think the F4 would be better off with key storyline interactions with the Inhumans,Spider-Man,Black Panther, the Kree,Luke Cage,Scott Lang, etc.?

Would you like to see Marvel's Illuminati (Tony,Reed,Panther,Hank/Xavier,Strange,Black Bolt) on the big screen?

Are you pro Tatum? do you fear that he wont be able to pull of the accent?

Do you enjoy Oscar Issac's look in XMAoA?

Does it bother you that Fox builds movies around who they cast and not the characters in the books they are adapting?

Are you tired of seeing Magneto lift cars or the Mystique body switch scenes?

Are you concerned that Fox-Marvel will have two stars, RR and Tatum signed after AoA is completed? If you are, would you rather see them strike a Sony deal and let Marvel take over creative control?

We could get a good FF film, but this one probably won't be that great. Combining the FF and the X Franchise would be nice for a movie or two. I'd rather see someone new take on the FF as a new franchise.

quote:

Fox-Marvel doesn't suck. We're in the middle of some of the best X-Men films (and best superhero films) of all time.

If Marvel has all of their IPs they'd kill off some of the franchises to concentrate on the number that they can manage. We're better off with other studios being in the mix. If anyone is beating the same drum it's Marvel.

The FF have plenty to explore with their key characters and villains. Having Black Panther doing a cameo isn't a big help. Falcon was a distraction in Ant-Man.

Not really.

i am pro-Tatum. Time will tell on the accent.

quote:

Issac looks fine and he is one of the best actors in the business. I have zero worries about his character.

quote:

That's debatable.

quote:

Are you tired of seeing Magneto lift cars or the Mystique body switch scenes?

No, since it's a part of their comic book powers/history. Are you tired of every other Marvel movie being a search for an infinity stone? Are you tired of Iron Man battling a corporate rival in every one of his films?

quote:

Are you concerned that Fox-Marvel will have two stars, RR and Tatum signed after AoA is completed? If you are, would you rather see them strike a Sony deal and let Marvel take over creative control?
A crossover film would be great, but I'd rather not have Marvel Studios making every film. They have an assembly line going that has a huge danger of going stagnant.
