So basically this means one of Austin, Liz, Julia, or Vanessa goes home. Assuming James doesn't do something unexpected and still keeps his word.

Well yeah, but you only do that if you feel sure he puts you or Clay out. She may have felt that was the case, but I don't see how Vanessa keeps riding it out in that group too much longer. She doesn't have a solid second person in that group.

He should still just put up Shelli and Clay. They want him gone ASAP anyway. Who cares if he lies to them? He's first out when they get power either way.

That's definitely the case. Jason, Meg, Jackie and James have been saying that they are going after Shelli and Clay because they figured out that they were playing that side of the house, so they felt to most betrayed by Clay and Shelli.

I think Clay/Shelli are going to try and act like Steve is the biggest threat. I hope that James doesn't fall for it. Steve is going to be thrown under the bus by the sixth sense.

They're both good at comps. Vanessa and Julia are not. Plus if Shelli and Clay see 6th sense start to crumble they might get back with James, Meg and Jackie.

Initially probably. But I don't think Meg and Jackie will let him buy that. I think after 6th Sense throws Steve under the bus, they will then turn on each other (at least I could see Clay & Shelli trying to throw Austin & the twins under the bus and vias versa).

One was the crap shoot ball toss and she won on the last loss in a 3 person playoff. The other was the music one which imo is also a crap shoot comp.

Maybe she did.
Regardless, if I were James I would be trying to keep my word while getting out one in that alliance. Putting up Vanessa and Julia with Austin as a backdoor would do that.

She also won the short term memory HOH. If James doesn't get out one of Shelli or Vanessa this week, I think his reign is a failure. Best case is put Shelli up with Clay (so one of them has to stay up there after POV), have Vanessa as your replacement nom (or send up Liz/Julia if Vanessa were to win POV and take someone off).

Why?
I mean, if this were the beginning of the game I could kind of see that; but how does keeping honest really benefit him in the game? Shelli/Clay will still be targeting him regardless. Plus, he's already shown himself to be dishonest (see backdooring Jace in week one).
I can agree that your plan would be effectively eliminating one of the numbers against him; but if you can get rid of the best competitor in the house who is not on your side (so far Shelli), I think you need to take the shot.
