May? Jimmy is making the decision for her, and it's pissing me off. He came off as charming in BB. Even in the first season of BCS. He's annoying and acting like an idiot right now.

I say this because I want him to get his shite together, which seems like a pretty easy and obvious thing for him to do.

how is he acting any different this season than last?

His motives and intentions have basically always been the same, he's only just now beginning to actually move towards making that reality.

and it's pretty clear that in the long run, she doesn't choose Jimmy. based on Breaking bad. Right?

He was getting fricked all of season 1 and had pretty shitty prospects. Dude gets this AMAZING opportunity and he's throwing it down the drain, along with the most important relationship in his life. Might just be me, but it's getting really hard to root for him.

It's because he's Slippin' Jimmy. Chuck is right about one thing -- Jimmy will forever be most comfortable with slippin' Jimmy which is what you hate. It's just the beginning of Saul Goodman's creation. A very mild beginning I'm sure.

He had every intention on being an honest lawyer until the ordeal with his brother. He's certainly self destructing, but we knew that would happen.

Saul's actions ultimately cost the firm the once in a lifetime case, since everyone put their name on the line for him..they have to distance themselves from him. Chuck gets to wear a shiteating grin.

I wonder if Saul Goodman will die in this episode. I hope not.

It's one thing to be Slippin' Jimmy when you work and live in the back of a nail salon. But now? Get your shite together Jimmy. And if this is who is he is(it's obvious that this is who he is), then I won't root for him, like I have for years and years now.

Yeah...but that's who he's always been. He hasn't changed his personality or his goals/dreams, the only thing that's changing is that now he's actively pursuing making those happen.

No doubt. I'm not saying I don't like the character, and I certainly love the show.

I don't dislike his personality. And wasn't his goal in season 1 to be respected for his lawyer skills by other lawyers? I got the feeling that he wanted respect. He's got it. For now at least.

He's great at helping others, but not himself.

He just wanted it from his brother. To me that seems to be his driving force, to be accepted as a legitimate lawyer by his brother. Now since that is not going to happen, he sees no other reason to be a legitimate lawyer and goes for the money and winning at all costs.

I think he is already Saul Goodman, Chuck is responsible for that with his chimp with a machine gun comment. Jimmy was doing it all right at the beginning looking for Chuck's approval. If he gets a chance at HHM, Saul never exist. But Chuck has set in motion this into motion. The thing is, it would be best if they make the Saul transition quicker. What would be really good is if Jimmie set up the Saul practice using funds from the lawsuits. I think Chuck started the path, Mike will be the person that dangles the biggest carrot for Saul. The squat cobbler thing and sex toilet has been the best part of this series to date.

See, I think this is just making excuses for Jimmy. Chuck has been rightly skeptical of Jimmy based on his past experiences, and Jimmy becoming Saul inevitably is just validation that Chuck was right all along. I get the show kind of sets Chuck up as an antagonist, but I don't view him that way.

I have a lot of respect for Chuck, because I think he just has a lot of respect for the practice of law and doing things the right way. I don't necessarily agree with his pretentiousness for where Jimmy got his degree, but I think it all stems from his distrust based off the past.

I honestly feel Chuck is rooting for Jimmy, and inside he hopes Jimmy proves him wrong. He pushes him in the meetings because he is looking for Jimmy to prove himself: not just that he is a skilled lawyer, but also that he doesn't have to break the rules to do it.

Ultimately, even if Jimmy never was slighted by Chuck and was given the job at HHM originally, he would find a way to go down the Saul route no matter what in the end. Some grievance along the line would have set him off and made him defy authority, because he doesn't like to play by other people's rules and thinks he can get it done better.

Evidence of that, for me, was just last week with the commercial. His new employer (guitar dude) has done nothing to slight Jimmy at all, and Jimmy owed it to him to go through the approval process on the video. But nope, he thought if they didn't go for it, they would be foolish, and so he didn't want to take that chance.

One would assume so. But maybe she did choose his side at first and something happened after that. I'm sure whatever happens it won't be black and white.
