He's about to be on the Tonight Show. I'm sure Fallon will ruin the interview but it's Norm.

I can't remember any interview being ruined that featured Norm.

Norm seemed like he was really going full "Bizarro Norm" wth Fallon. It almost felt like an old Conan appearance but not as good. I think it really went over Fallon's younger, uncultured crowd.

Although still funny, nothing ever topped his Letterman appearances because he knew he had to be ultra sharp, prepared, and totally on his A+ game to keep up with Letterman's quick wit. He always seemed far more controlled and technical on those whereas everywhere else he was really just throwing shite against the wall and didn't really care if it worked.

Yeah, with Conan it was clear Norm was actually friends with him and he went in and threw shite against the wall to see what would stick. Letterman though was Norm's idol and he always brought his A game there. On top of that, Letterman was consciously grooming Norm to be his successor after he inevitably retired, and Norm knew this as well. Letterman actually recommended Norm take his place to CBS, but after all the bridges Norm has burned in town they clearly weren't having it (not to mention how risky of a choice he would be). I also think that may have been a reason Norm broke down on his final stand up on Letterman. Letterman was always Norm's biggest champion, and I think winning Letterman's true respect may be Norm's personal greatest achievement. Plenty of other comedians have wanted it from Letterman, but no one quite got it like Norm did.

Damn, it hasn't showed up in my podcast queue yet. Seems like whenever I finally give up, he starts making more episodes again
