I just didn't get it
I thought Jake Gyllenhal did well in his part and played it really well but I just didn't find the movie interesting or very good.

I was riveted by the freakiness of his character and felt like he single handily made the movie.

Odd opinion since the movie relied 100% on his performance.

I thought it was good
I don't believe it is realistic or an honest reflection of that industry. I could be wrong, but I would guess not.
No images or scenes that will stick with me. I fricking hate rotten tomatoes. It was built up too much

Watched it last night. I liked it but I found it a little far fetched.

All of the shite he was doing was illegal as frick. He basically tampered with a crime scene. He set his coworker up for death. He cut his rivals brake line.
The only part of the movie I enjoyed was his interaction with the female news lady. I thought that shite was funny. I mean he played the character well but it was not super interesting as a movie or plot in my opinion.

They are usually pretty accurate but not always. I really enjoyed Gone Girl.

I didn't love it, but I was glad I went. The relationship with the news station manager was not hinted at all in the previews, and I love that. I also really liked the house crime scene part. And the end was a nice turn. It was a solid movie, but I have no desire to see it again really.

It's a satire.

I'll say this: If Nightcrawler didn't keep you on the edge of your seat, nothing will. Easily one of the year's best IMO. Can't wait to watch it again.

See that's what I loved about it. How it towed that fine line between series drama and satire.
It makes you think about how the difference between Lou, you or the next guy might just be circumstance and opportunity.
Like this exchange between Lou and Rick at the end of the film which I thought just gets to the heart of the matter.
quote:
Rick Garcia: You saw him. You saw him!
Lou Bloom: I can't jeopardize my company's success to retain an untrustworthy employee.
Rick Garcia: You're crazy. You're crazy.
Lou Bloom: You took my bargaining power Rick. You used it against me. You would've done it again. Just admit it.
Rick Garcia: I don't know. I don't know.
Lou Bloom: I know. I know.
Lou knows he would have cause Lou psycho that he is, know people.
The movie really just had a lot of great psychological aspects to it.

Yeah I prefer IMDB but I didn't notice any hype on this movie at all. Hell I don't even think I heard of it till it was already released.

I had the same exact feeling as you. Thought Gyllenhall did a great job acting but the storyline itself sucked

I thought the movie was badass and Jake Gyllenhaal was a straight up gangsta in that movie.

You can go ahead and put spoilers in the thread title boss. Good thing I wasn't planning on watching this or anything.
