I liked it. Something different. Was refreshing. Flash is not a great character. He's just a generic bully.

It was pathetic. Flash was Peter's
Chief antagonist in his beginning years and they reduced it some wormy shite talking minority role. Peter's fear of him was so fake. Utter fail.

I get that. Still, I personally didn't have the urge to see another generic bully in the role. Everyone knows the standard Peter/Flash story. It was sufficiently covered in the first movie, and then rehashed to the extreme in the Sony reboot, where Flash is so absurdly out of control he threatens to beat up a girl. We can all understand Peter is a dork without the need for standard boring Flash taking screen time.

about halfway through it, and it's pretty fricking terrible.

From a film and story perspective, tell us why you think that. Because I think you're flat wrong. It's well paced, the stakes are high, the jokes are funny, the Hughesian homage is well done and the characters feel lived in. Tom Holland does a great job of balancing the angst of Tobey Maguire and the flippancy of Andrew Garfield. He's the best Spider-Man to date.

Agree with this, but I didn't really care for the movie either. The Stark tech suit, annoying best friend character, and overall story just didn't do it for me. Keaton was great and as already stated, so was Holland. The scene in the car with those two was fantastic, most of the rest fell flat with me.

This made the whole movie worth the watch. The entire movie built to that point and it paid off. Great scene and story.

Have to agree. Also more in line with how you'd expect an extremely intelligent young guy to act, all excited and intellectually curious.

This describes it perfectly. The car scene was the best in the movie.

I guess my problem with the Peter Parker depiction, is it reminded me of Larry David. Everything he did, was frustratingly dumb teenage behavior. And after several minutes, you could predict every scene as it came. It made me lose interest quickly.

It was a really fun movie with some monumental flaws. The varying levels of Spidey's strength from scene to scene. The grafted on SJW sensibility to the one character was off-putting. The ridiculous notion that we're going to fly literally the most powerful objects on Earth in our possession without a speck of escort or security was laughable. But, it's a Marvel movie, so it was bright and all's well*.

*Couldn't resist. I liked it a lot despite these and other issues. Holland might be one of the best cast superheroes in the genre.

Watching Spider-Man 2 on FX. It's going to be extremely hard to match or beat this movie. Easily in the top 5 superhero genre movies. It has aged very well.

Correct. Will likely stay the GOAT Spidey movie for awhile.

I love SM2 but after watching it recently it doesn't hold up like I thought it would IMO. I still love it but I tink SMH is a better Peter Parker/SM story. I watched SMH again last night and other than some teenager cheesiness it's very very good.
