So I presume the Millers have something keeping them immune to the virus.

I like that they left together. They can keep the storyline fresh with new adventures and always have a plot line in Tuscon to go back to. The season ended strong after that little lull with Phil mid way through.

Didn't see a thread on the finale last night and didn't think it'd be worth starting a new one so I'll just bump this one.
Thoughts on the finale for those that watched? I thought it was pretty good. Not as many LOL moments as usual (for me, anyway) but I liked the storyline. New phil really got on my nerves. Everyone else started to piss me off too...like ok I get it you don't like real Phil, but everyone just seems totally on board with kicking him out and letting him fend for himself somewhere else, or killing him. Uh, news flash, all of yall are alive because of him.
And the very end...that really made me go all in with Carol. Sure she's annoying a lot of times, but she seems to genuinely care about phil, I really like her now. I'm very curious to see what kind of direction that goes in. Are they going to move to anohter city and just start over? Will they start a new civiliation? Will S2 focus in on their "town" plus the tucson group? What kind of new folks will we see? Lots of good questinos. Also, very curiuos to see how they bring Phil's brother (presumably, based on context) into the mix from the shot we see of him.

I'm thinking some type of war between tribes, lord of the flies style.

Well that's not true at all. They're all in Tucson and around people because of him, but they were all doing just fine staying alive on their own.
I really enjoyed last night's episode. Sucks it was the season finale because I find myself getting really jacked on Sundays about LMoE episodes. I wonder how long it will be before S2.
I didn't like the very ending with Sudekis in space though. And it's 100% Phil's brother, as we see pics in the first episode (I think, maybe second) of him with his family and IIRC he talks about his brother as they show the pic of he and Sudekis. But I didn't like that particular ending because there's basically no way for him to get back to Earth, and he's destined to die in space since civilization is donezo.
Really liked Carol coming back to him in the end too. That was sweet. And his talk with Carol about her fricking new Phil without being married (and her "casual sex" comeback) was hilarious. I love that all he wanted was to have sex with Carol, then he got her, but wanted to have sex with Melissa instead because she was hotter. And when all is said and done, all he wants is to have Carol back. That's good stuff. Also great how Phil was basically like "Yeah, sex is pretty much all I ever wanted at all!"
I didn't like Melissa and friggin Todd getting back together though...having crazy Todd around for a couple episodes was pretty funny.
All in all, solid first season, and I can't wait to see where they go from there.

oh you know what I meant. Carol, todd, new phil, and melissa were all by themselves and who knows what they would have done with their lives if they didn't rejoin a society? they owe phil a lot, and even though he's been kind of a jerk they have been pretty shitty towards him too.

What's the timeline of all of this? I assume just a couple/few weeks..?
Posted on 5/4/15 at 12:55 pm to CocomoLSU
timeline from when the "society" formed? I'm not exactly sure, but I don't think it's very long. I think that it was quite some time between the virus and others starting to show up...I THINK I recall someone (either todd or the 2 ladies or someone) saying it had been years since they've seen people.

I'm talking about the timeline of the show.
They've said that it's been two years since shite hit the fan, and that's where episode 1 started. I'm wondering how long it's been since then...can't be more than a few weeks or so.

I'm thinking the show followed close to real time past the first episode, which had 5 months (or more) pass. When Carol/Tandy got divorced they said they were married for 3 weeks, which I think
is close to "our" time, but I haven't actually counted.

For some reason it always pissed me off that they were in Tucson. I keep wanting them to go somewhere like Miami and stay in a big arse mansion on the water.

or somewhere with plenty of freshwater and a long growing season...not the goddamn desert
but anyways, I've really enjoyed the show, looking forward to S2

Do you guys think that Phil has lost his mind since civilization broke down, or do you think hes always been this way?

I thought the episode was good. I like that new "hero" Phil displayed his psycho side, a lot like Todd last week, leaving no truly "perfect" men on Earth. There are so many ways they can go with Season 2. But hey, since I know nothing, might as well speculate. I predict the following:
(1) It turns out model psycho Phil loves Carol, and is willing to chase her around the country to get her a few episodes into the season. The first few episodes will be split between the Tuscon gang being grateful of Phil's handy work while simultaneously getting fed up with his alpha-dog routine, and Tandy/Carol arguing about where to go (ultimately settling on a somewhat remote location for the sake of minimizing production cost).
(2) New Phil will get a ham radio going, and pick up the signal from the ISS and Tandy's brother. Once ISS Miller realizes that his brother survived the virus, he might guess that he's immune as well and attempt some sort of re-entry.

I just don't see how they can legitimately do something like that with literally no civilization to get him out of space. Also, if he's been up there for two+ years, he has to be running REALLY low on supplies. But I assume they will obviously address it since they showed him up there.

I wouldn't be surprised if they just relocated to the other side of Tucson or something like that.
And that form tackle new Phil made on the TandyMan was pretty awesome.

He was a temp before the virus at age 40 or so while his brother was an astronaut. I think he has always been weird.

I absolutely love where this is going. I was really hoping for Tandy to leave the group, and I am glad Carol went with him.
I think it is hilarious that they all wanted other people for 2 years but, once found, decided they could do without some people. Carol was content to leave 4 other people to just be with Tandy.
I think Todd and Melissa will probably end up leaving too, if I had to guess. New Phil is once again free without Carol, and Todd and Melissa are much better alone.
That would leave The 2 girls and new Phil behind. I think the girls enjoyed each other company a lot, even Biblically, and probably would get over new Phil being an a-hole pretty quickly. So I see them just picking up and moving away one night without new Phil.
That would leave new Phil all alone in the desert. He thought the desert was a dumb choice, but now he has put in all of this work in making it habitable. Does he abandon that and move on or just make the best of it? My guess is new Phil was part of a group before but they kicked him out, which would explain why he was so quick to kick out Tandy. I think that would be a cool storyline.
If all of this comes to fruition, the million dollar question is: Who takes the cow? I think anyone is capable of it. Tandy and Carol might even sneak back and take it.

QUIT CALLING HIM TANDY!!
Much easier to differentiate between the Phil's. Plus, I like it. So I will call him what I damn well please.

At least call him the Tandyman.
I'm surprised Carol was cool with just up and leaving on a moment's notice like that. I would have thought they'd at least go back and gather some supplies (water, clothes, booze, food, etc), but they just took right on off.
