I can't get into felicity jones. She's not star wars. It was real with daisy. This is doubling down on 8.

The movie will automatically be good because the cast is so diverse.

To say nothing of the quality of the films (Episode 7 was great), it is bizarre to me how Disney is going so PC and "inclusive" with the Star Wars franchise when their Marvel films play it so safe. With Marvel, it's the comics that are going out of their way to check off minority and gender quotas.
Rey is fine, but I was never a fan of having female Storm Troopers and imperial officers (as seen in the new expanded universe). It makes sense for the Rebel Alliance to take men, women, and whoever is old enough to hold a blaster, but to me, it just fit more for the Empire's military presence to consist of white males. Women should be discriminated against in the Empire's ranks same as aliens. It just seems to me that if the Empire was inclusive enough to include women in all levels of its military hierarchy then maybe there were other aspects of it that weren't so bad after all.
That said, I don't buy Felicity Jones as a bad arse soldier lady who leads a ragtag bunch of soldiers to steal the death star plans.

Excited for Donnie's scenes. If they're ANYTHING like the IP man karate scene, going to be the best part of the movie.

If they were marching Leslie Jones out there, then I'd see your gripe. But Diego Luna, Felicity Jones, and Ben Mendelsohn are solid as hell. Jiang Wen and Donnie Yen are both well respected Chinese filmmakers/actors.
If there's any film universe that should be diverse, it's probably a Sci-Fy one that features humans and other beings from across the universe. People bitching about diversity in that universe is silly as hell in the context.

The Empire has to reform to survive. I'm fine with them being more inclusive as a result.
