New Girl doesn't know what it's doing anymore.

There are some laughs here and there, but overall the plot lines are meandering.
We know there's nothing that's going to come of Jess and Robbie. It's a pointless detour.
They already telegraphed her and Nick will wind up together.
It's just a shame because it was one of my favorite shows.

Yeah last season had some truly hilarious episodes.
This year they have Schmidt married, Winston in a serious relationship, Nick finding success, and Jess lost.
Ehhhhhhhhhh

Keeping it funny is the focus. Who gives a crap where the plot lines are going?

Because the plot is a major factor in driving the humor. It gives it context.

I sort of agree. Last night's episode was just weird and all over the place with the whole singles/couples thing though.
NO NOTES!

She should end up with Robbie

When did the new season start? I forgot to set my DVR.

I think there have been two episodes so far (three max).

Ah sweet. Guess I now have plans for tonight.

I think last night's was the 3rd this season.

Her and Robbie wouldn't mix well. They're too much alike.

Because the "New Girl" was Megan Fox and Jess was no where in sight. The show is really carried by Nick, Winston and Schmidt. Coach threw it off too because he took Winston's role and made him into this effeminate weirdo as opposed to a former professional basketball player who was quirky and wanted to be a cop.

I really dislike Jess in almost all of her scenes now.

Idk I love Winston and Ferguson's relationship

Jess has always been the worst part of the show.
I resisted watching it because of her. I knew from the preview that they were going to play up the quirky angle. No thanks. Not interested.
But my wife was, so while she's watching it and I'm doing something else, I couldn't help but hear these hilarious gentlemen.
Honestly the show would benefit if she was solely a straight character like Cece used to be.

I agree that this season has been bad.
It seems like that in making the changes to each character (Schmidt married, Winston serious relationship, Nick focused, Jess lost), they removed what makes each of them (other than Jess who is never funny) hilarious.
The show just isn't working right now, it has a LOL moment here and there but nothing like in the past. It isn't silly anymore.
They probably should have just Fast forwarded Jess/Nick's inevitable reunion last year and ended the show.
I could care less about the plot, the show just isn't funny right now.
