Looks awesome but I can't help but wonder how much better it could be if Will Smith was Django

You have to remember that this is Tarantino. His trailers are never exactly how the film is. Just like Inglorious Basterds trailers were different then the film we got. Idk if you like I.B though.

But that's kinda how a lot of QT's films are though, at least to some degree (and some are obviously over the top campy - KB 1 and 2).

That's kinda how I am feeling...I remember not really liking the first trailer, but this one has me more pumped. I just kinda feel like Foxx is gonna be disappointing...I've never really liked him as a "serious" actor.

I'm not even a big Will Smith fan, but he would have been incredible in this role.

I read that he said it was the best screen play he ever read, but passed because he was committed to the Men in Black franchise at the time.

Thank god will Smith isn't in this movie. I don't want to have to break the will smith boycott I've had going for the last few years. Fox FTW

I thought Foxx was tremendous in Collateral though.

Yea I'd rather see fox in this role honestly. Not sure why everyone wants smith. I never have thought he was all that great though

I'm not saying I hate Foxx, just that I sometimes find it hard to kinda buy into him in roles. I do like Will Smith, and I think he would do better in this role (at least that's my stance without seeing the movie yet). But I'm not really "calling for" Smith though...just kinda wish it wasn't Foxx I guess. Maybe Idris Elba or someone like that.

But I guess at least it's not Tyrese or some bullshite like that.

Gotta disagree. Jamie Foxx is perfect to play a slave. He can play the cocky, frick you kinda role that will be required for this movie since he's a slave-turned-bounty hunter.

Will Smith back in the Bad Boys days would have been great for this role.....but he's sucked lately.

Give me Foxx over Smith.

For people worried about Johah Hill's character.

quote:

Big Revelations: Remember when Jonah Hill was suddenly cast in Django about a month ago? Tarantino teased Hill’s scene, explaining that it involves a true-life proto-Ku Klax Klan gang called the Regulators, “a group of people who kept slaves in line, found them if they escaped, and terrorized them.” The scene features a Regulator raid against Foxx and Waltz’s bounty hunters. “It starts off like it’s going to be very scary,” explained Tarantino, “And then they have this sequence that’s one of the funniest things I’ve ever written. Right up there with handing out the color names in Reservoir Dogs.”

I like the sound of that last line..

I found this kinda cool

quote:

A fun item for film nerds here: A paper advertises a $2000 reward for one “Edwin Porter,” who is guilty of “Train Robbery.” In real life, Edwin Stanton Porter was an early filmmaker who directed The Great Train Robbery, essentially inventing the action movie a century before Michael Bay destroyed it.

Idk if Jamie Foxx sucks....

But he fits this kind of movie well.

I actually think Anthony Mackie (from The Hurt Locker) would have been the best guy for this role. But apparently Foxx fits the "Cowboy" part.

Would have been interesting to see Will Smith vs. Leo though.
